---Can Someone Explain Fame to Me?---

Granted, I haven't progressed very far in the game as of yet, but I have run several missions. At the completion of each mission, I get a message telling me my fame has increased among the Matis; however, when I open the fame window, my fame is always 16. There's an up arrow next to it, but it's always 16. It seems broken. Is anyone else having a similar problem?

Missions where the giver pays you earns you little rewarded fame but good rewarded dapper. Missions where the giver will be grateful but not pay any dapper reward no dapper but a large amount of fame, those where the giver will be most grateful earn the most fame.

Fame and skill level are important to your being able to get missions from the various NPC mission givers, fame also influences the prices you'll see at the merchants and the reaction guards have to you. If you fame is too low, they'll just smirk as that critter chewing on your leg makes a meal out of you. Although I do not know if it's been proven, if your fame is low enough it is conceivable that city guards might actually attack you.

If you're still on the beginners isle, it will take many missions to gain one fame point. I run as many missions as I can when starting out and go to the mainland with 300,000+ dappers (less what might get sunk into crafting) and 3 personal fame. Mainland missions give more fame. Missions where the giver is very greatfull give much more fame than those with a dapper reward.

Actually if you do crafting missions you get quite a lot of fame and many many dapper. I was 37 personal before I even set foot on the mainland.
