In the past E2 and earlier OP battles sides were more even, very even. For whatever debatable reasons the kami side dwindled.

But is it a bad thing? is a balanced world of perpetual conflict what we pay for and fight for? Would you fight if the goal is unwinnable in the truest sense. What of other conflicts, race vs race, internal faction struggles and splits, Ryzom is not just kami vs. Karavan, the world is dynamic and changes, once there was no kami + Karavan conflict, players adapted or left. Ryzom will change again and again, sides will ebb and flow, karavan complacency and a string of kami victories could turn Atys the other way around.

Seems much of the kami side of the coin at present is dis-enchantment, thus sprialing the percieved scenario. I have felt this in other games, notably DAOC, yet in that game sides were turned, the balance shifted. There is an influx of new players, when they mature(lvl) to pvp lvls (200+) the karavan may not be the power it was. Yet the conflict of kami + karavan is just a part of the game, not the whole game,

Isn't there any way, that the Kami side can be given a way to gain power/resources without having to PvP? It seems many don't like PvP and don't particiapte, which make the Kami PvPers discouraged and hurts overall Kami morale.

It seems to me, rather like the Horde/Alliance 'cultures' on WoW, that the different factions here attract different types of people... and it seems its Karavan players who most like the PvP stuff. We need more non-PvP goals and rewards ingame for all the other folks, who seem to be mostly Kami. And I dont mean Ring, I mean stuff in the storyline that gives a feeling of contribution for folks.

Its not right for an entire faction of people to be disenfanchised by having only ONE choice of 'endgame' content. This was the mistake WoW made, and it caused many people to leave. Whether or not OPs are officially 'endgame' or not, it seems its the main focus for high level (Karavan) players and guilds. There needs to be a similar alternative\rewards for those who don't wish to participate in PvP combat.

Any which way you decide to go. Thou I never met you. I feel sorry the game didnt turn out quite like you hoped. But who knows, maybe sometime down the road, hopefully, the Kami will make a come back, and you could return. Keep an eye on us. :D

I thinik the problem is, actually, not to be had on the Kami side (and of course not neutrals). Ironic as it may seem, I think that a Karavan landslide is bad news primarily for the Karavan players.

Oh I know, most of you are saying, "Bwuh??" But hear me out (or rather read me out).

People who have picked a side, own outposts, and are set to factional PVP status, are that way because they want the competition. They (presumably) want to go out and fight Kami players. What happens when there are no Kami players? There's nothing for the Karavan side to do.

Oh, being the undisputed winner to the point where the other side ceases to exist sounds great when you are in the process. But once you get there, it turns out that it's not so great. I saw this in SWG. The rebels just undisputedly controlled every planet but one on my server. Then they said, "OK let's get the last planet (Naboo)." And they made a concerted effort. And they took it over, and they crowed. The Empire was beaten on our server.

But then what was there left to do? The Empire had basically lost. There were almost no Imperial players left. And the rebels... had nobody left to fight but the paltry NPCs.

No, an end to the conflict really is not what you want here. A decisive and final or near-final victory by the Karavan does not, in actual fact, help the Karavan players, at least not as much as one would think. The faction battle is best when it is near parity. How to acheive that, I'm not sure... but parity should be the design goal, not letting one side win. Because once one side wins, the war is over.

After all, there's a reason George Lucas never bothered to make movies past Return of the Jedi.

Well personally one of the things I'm sick of in the rest of MMOs is endless and therefore pointless conflicts...

This and the temples has only been the first skirmish though.
Hardly seems right for the fight to be over only this far through the 'plot'.

It would be like Luke failing to destroy the death star in Star Wars, the rebels being annihilated and the next two episodes being Star Wars: The Empire's Celebration party and Star Wars: Vader's Golden Years.

Thats the point... More and more Kami are beginning to accept that the OP battles are unwinnable... Therefore... they Leave... Just like Hardened... Do you realize that you have named exactly why he/she is leaving? He/she does not want to fight for an unwinnable goal..and like me does not want to just "switch sides" just to be the winners... (That to me would also be boring as I don't want an easy win). So what option is left really? stick around do nothing but dig and grind for all eternity? Or go find a new game? You see the choice many are making...

(I hope this makes since Its some time after 1 am and I am pretty tired o.O)

wow! in 2 weeks from being completly new to 220, that's amazing
are you sure it's the karavan fault and not that you are simply burnt out from that grinding speed?

i wouldn't say that the kami have all those not liking pvp.
first, there are many more karas, so there are more karas who like pvp, but in % both side might have the same proportion of people who like pvp or not.
second, to enjoy pvp you'll need a chance to win and might it even be very low. but if you know allready long befor the start that there is no way to win why bother to join?

Well, like many people have thought and said before, the game isn't just PvP. There are many other aspects of any other game as well. Take time to smell the roses. Build an alternative life... craft, dig, become a merchant, an ally, a scout, a collector, an events participant. After all, part of Episode II was infact digging too. This game calls for collaboration. Look hard enough and you'll find your spot in this universe (and not the channel).

And the reason why the Karavan started overgrowing was because of Jessica's TV interview, in my opinion, which caused people to want to join "the bigger side".

This is coming from an OmegaV member mind you.
