I usually avoided trying out this game to keep its wonders intact, now that I am bored with rest of the online worlds, I thought why not.
Will a new player really have my know-how's on what Ryzom is? Of course I am a new player. I have tried a lot to avoid trying this game to its full potential to keep it fresh and as a future alternative, but that doesn't mean I haven't tried the game out. With a cousin like mine who keeps on urging me to play with him - I'm bound to know what is and is not here. He has been asking me since beta I recall. Additionally I know the community here very well and have been browsing through these forums for a while too.
Dissecting, oh, please be a dear and read again carefully on what the poll is about. Its not defying the unlimited trial, its great, wonderful and I myself love the move nevrax made. What this poll is asking whether a player should be able to see the mainlands for seven days after they teleport from the unlimited RoS - Lands To Explore map, or not. Only to get a quick glimpse of their home for the next 30 days after all it's their money.
I agree with universal chat and its possible for them to know there is life on the mainlands and such. But... does the mainlands have Goo manifested creatures nowadays? Karavan-kami temple with their faction elements surrounding them(such only showed up during FvF events i figure)? .. to name a few.
Right now I saw some plus points in having the trial only on RoS though:
- No more wasting time and efforts on a trial player who dissapears just as instantly when it comes to guilds and recruitment.
- If the player wants to try out FvF and Outposts, they have to suscribe... this also is a limitation that disallowes players from trying that out - after all it IS a feature of the real game and a trial should partially allow them to experience some, thus the trial.
What I'm saying is both the mainlands and the RoS are different and unbalanced. The mainlands may have outposts, temples, FvF, events and many more..but while RoS has elements that mainlands atm doesn't have. Its only natural that the mainlands to have everything from the trial plus more extra content.. but right now that is not the case. The both function differently and some may not feel comfortable on the mainlands after they get there - in other words isn't an extra 5-7 days after the unlimited trial on RoS better than our forums getting flooded with people demanding refunds, or spreading around the word that they may feel cheated? just an example. Both lands should not ever be too apart.
