Hmm, think its up to newbies to make a choice. some ppl like the safety net of guild straight away, others will want to find their feet on their own. Either way is fine of course... Guild recruiters, well they will never go away infact situation is a lot worse now as you recruit on the starter islands..

standing advise as always is not just to accept the first guild invite thats thrown at you, but spend a little time asking some questions or researching guilds before joining one.

Have to smile a little bit, as i have a new character these days.. some guilds who shall remain nameless have offered a guild invite without even a hello.. got one whilst afk the other day.

so all that rambling is a no :)

I agree with you in most if not everything you said... i fust feel sad about the practices Rushin described below, and think it does not help the cumminity in any way.

Btw, i did not mean to appear anti-karavan above, i just found funny that a matis based guild has been camping for long now on Pyr recruiting everything that moves.

When I joined the game using the 7-day trial, I decided not to join a guild until the 7 days were up ... but I knew I wanted to join a guild. Just remember, it's hard to protect people from themselves without doing so for people who don't need it, plus annoying a lot of them.

The questions you ask is hard to understand. (or maybe I'm just challenged in some way :p )

I vote no, newbies should have all the options, if they make a mistake it will be their mistake and their learning experiance.

I'd rather a new player joined any guild than felt lonely and quit before learning the game.

They can always change guilds later on - alot of people do.

Note: Have not read the whole thread.

I think it should not be as easy as click a button to join a guild, it should also not be too cumbersome. Maybe a reasonable right to have permission to guild up.

I voted no,

I remember when I first joind the game and the trial was either 2 weeks or 1 month (pretty sure it was 2 weeks) i was hanging out in the jungle killing mean and vicious kipees with me best pals Ghuiss, Awaras, Wintermute and Meena.

Meena was already part of Evolution but i guess myself, Ghuiss and Awaras were already gearing up towards getting as much money as possible to make our own guild.

I guess at that stage it was the closest i have ever been to joining a karavan guild because i'm sure i spoke with Meena about joining Evo.

Anyway to cut a long story short... my trial period was completely geared towards joining a guild and becoming part of a bigger family

I voted "no".

As a newbie myself, I'd like the option of getting into a guild as soon as I chose to. I'll echo other's sentiments but if a person is brand new to the game, being able to become guilded can be a great way to become better aclimated to the world. MMORPGs are designed to be social in nature and it helps to better foster the social aspect of the game if one is able to join a guild, get to know his guildmates, and so forth.

The choice for a new player to join a guild or not should remain in there hands.

I often mention to new players that they should shop around for guilds before commiting themselfs to one.
I find it bad form for a guild to "buy" a new recruit with crystals and gear if they join them as soon as they are off the newbi island, but i would not wish for the option to join friends, or nice people you meet, to be removed.

Of course, i am not a Zorai guild having to put up with non-zorai guilds buying new zorais, wich i understand happens a lot

I voted "no" as well. The option of who and when to join should be completely up to the player.

However, I do think they should remove the ability to guild invite players who are STILL on the training island. I've already caught some players coming to the mainland to Yrkanis for the first time, with Kami guild tags. They said they didn't know anything about it except got an invitation out of nowhere on the training island so accepted.

I admit the command to guildinvite from a distance has come in handy- but it may be better to remove it so players actually have to meet people from the guild before they're sniped....
