because range has ammo limitation, it needs to be significantly better than elemental

critical shot to head, would make double or more damage, etc.
but it's tricky to balance it good. you cant just take dps from gun, sword and magic and make it "balanced". gun runs out of ammo, other 2 can go 24/7 with healer. others can carry your ammo/mats ofcource, but still you cant keep up with melee/magic.
then, there is balance in "time and resources needed to get one lvl".
range is out of balance in here too
tricky to get everything "just right"

Doesn't take that much time to craft 1000 bullets..
40 for rifle (with 2+1+1 mats)
20 for bowrifle (with 2+2+2 mats)
3 for launcher (with 4+4+4 mats)
for lvl 250, it's 185k XP needed
62 mobs with 3k xp to lvl
you can shoot 16 bullets per mob if you have 1000 ammo
for rifle, you need 100 mats
bowrifle, you need 300 mats
launcher you need 4000 mats (3 packer can only hold 3k mats btw)
just shoot me if i you see error somewhere

You're right, forgot that because i'm using a bowrifle & launcher all the time.

The funniest thing about range is that it has no "range". Talking to a masterrifleman I discovered rifles are sadly underranged. Who needs a complete revamp of it when its painfully obviously they just need some "range" added to the range tree. That seems a simple enough thing to do. Give the range fighters some range just a little bit come on now give them a few more meters of range

so I guess the whole thing lies with PvP for ranged
I've long thought it was probably one of the best things for PvP
only think is it seems useless PvE

I agree that range seems woefully underpowered. This suggestion does seem like a good solution. However, I wonder if it could have unintended consequences. If the range of a range weapon becomes farther than a plant can attack, then the plants are defenseless and leveling range is simply a matter of digging and crafting. That problem could also occur with slow moving mobs, they may have virtually no chance of reaching the ranger before dropping. Granted I don't know the current plant attack ranges, possibly this is a mute issue.

Hehe more "Range" in Rangefight yup a simply change, logical...yes , overpowering...probably not, overdue...you betcha.
Come on Nevrax please, I know you got lots to do but couldnt you let somone have a few hours a week to benchtest a few range tweaks. I get many questions from people wishing to start ranged and help where i can but many soon give up.
Please throw us a few crumbs before too long so we can give the AoDs a little more to worry about.

Yep, I can solo Cloppers all day and not get hit once, no need for a healer with nice balanced stanzas.
In the new PvP I hate the massive logistics required in getting a few launcher ammo to the zone. Stables please! Then I can craft ammo at base.
I must say though, having used a launcher in PvP with 54m range, it is great fun to annoy the mages and of course I can be fleeing before they try and target me. Very disruptive, but alas 9 shots per TP/walk/craft/walk/TP to zone/find action. Not nice!

Oh I'd very much like to see it balanced out for both.
I just think now PvP has a larger role it would be another way of showcasing Range (if setup right) could be of some use.
