Ep 2/3. The black and the white.

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

I agree. But I have a long list of questions (not least of which is when is ranged going to be balanced or even get a little bulk fix) but they have a critical time constraint on what is being done. They succeed or look for new jobs. Shirley we can have a little MORE patience since we have waited this long. (don't call me Surely).

I can see both your sides..

As I see it though..

If it's something which doesn't effect everyday play (not much at least - ie: something you don't HAVE to take part in..) It's worth just seeing how it goes.. and ajusting it after..

If it's something which dramaticaly changes everyday play it should be discussed massivly before hand otherwise they're going to pee off alotta people.

Jayce, if I thought there was a snowballs chance in hell of averting this 'progress' I would be typing like mad alongside Jyudas & Baxter etc to get it changed. I have just accepted that it will not work. The changes are in. The stakes are too high for the devs to give consideration to our opinions.

I'm afraid the die have been cast.

Agreed and that's something they can't afford to do right now. People are already getting bored with EP2, most of my guild stopped going to AD ages ago (I stopped after day 1).

I haven't seen a massive influx of people, but I haven't been in the Killing Fields for ages. Are they actually that massively populated? Are there actually hordes of new players running about there?

The new lakes were fairly heavily populated (and PvP heavy) the first day or so after they were introduced. Attendence appears to have dropped off majorly though and since about halfway through the desert period there has been a lot more peace (apart from the odd problem person) in the new lands.

Much like the Kitin invasion the problem seems to be a feeling of lack of progress and it generally dragging on too long which contributes to the progressive lack of interest.

Godly intervention to increase % complete disheartens and devalues player efforts, even if the progress was slow, especially when there appears to have been a bias towards the Matis progress, that isn't helping either.

I agree with you. But I feel that is positive criticism about improving implemented gameplay. I also hope they do something about it soon.

I've been traveling all over Atys to take screenies during my last days in Ryzom. I've seen some new names in the various regions of Atys; however, what I've notice more are the names that are missing and how short each region's list is when I type "/who".

I pop into the new PvP area when I start feeling sentimental and need to be reminded of why I'm leaving. Personally, I don't feel that the numbers I've counted in there make up for the number of players missing in the other areas. But perhaps I'm just in-game during the wrong hours. After all I've gone from playing from approximately 10-12 per day to coming in-game every few days simply to visit with guildies, empty out packers/apartment, and to say good-bye to friends.

Seconded. When this all started I had real hopes that we'd finally have a chance to have a lasting effect on the world of Atys. Votes were held in each land about whether to tolerate the Kami/Karavan temple to be build there. Fyros, Zorai and Matis all voted no, only to be told later that these temples would be build anyway and the only effect of their vote was that there wouldn't be NPC's guarding the sites. Oh well, it's still going to be us who have to build the temples, right? Wrong, after two weeks of work even the most finished temple was still below 10%, and the divine powers decide we're being too slow and thus build part of the temple themself.

The NPC's at the site make it quite clear that if by the end of the event we have not finished the temple, the gods will finish them themselves, but homins will receive less rewards. This goes for both temples, as the Karavan envoy said about the Kami temples: "We cannot prevent the actual construction." So all eight of these temples are going to be there, no matter what we do. Killing the opponent harvesters is not going to stop, or even slow down, the building of their temples. Harvesting and crafting yourself is not going to speed up the building of your own temple. All eight of them will be finished as soon as the event is over, one way or the other. Everything we do effects only what rewards we will receive. Apart from our names being engraved on the temples, we will have no lasting effect on Atys, only on our own characters. It really takes the wind our of your sails :(

Actually not all temples have been 'divinely boosted'. From what I have seen (I haven't been to all temples), only the sites that have seen some work by the players have been affected. Yet it remains to be seen if a single player making a single crafting act on a given tample can with this ensure that the whole temple will actually be built at the end.

Oh man is that true? Well the wind is also gone from my sails somewhat. But imagine the nonforum players who will only find this out at the end! Poor sods.

On population, I have noticed what appears to be an increase in players compared to a few months ago. Mostly in level 50 to 100 areas. All with odd names that do not seem to be in keeping with the type of characters we have all had over the last year or so. Maybe they are all a different type of player?
