The non reaction to concerns from older players is actually one of the last drops that made me press terminate.
I loved the game, i loved the potential and i loved the dream and dreamt along with it. And now? Now i feel ripped off and cheated, that might be a bit of a strong way of putting it but we have been ignored on our concerns.
We have been waved promises in front of our noses to never see them realised.
This wouldt be so bad if those things that arent here yet are exactly those things that made me love Ryzom. I managed to wait for that different game for more then a year, playing a game just like any other mmo. Frankly any other MMO is better at the content Ryzom provides, that is Ryzom as it became, as opposed to Ryzom as we read about back then.
We have heared a week or 2 before retail that outposts would be in at retail, we did not need to worry. All content that was lacking in beta was said to us would be in at retail, why? Well they told us that it was so we still would have the story to descover after having beta tested for half a year or longer.
We asked if it didnt need any testing? It was OK. it was all ready and tested inhouse and would be ingame in retail.
We are more then a year past the day Ryzom became retail: is there any more content? Are our outposts there? Is our rich storyline there? Are guildhall features there? Is anything making Ryzom really different in the game? Things that made us love Ryzom for not being like any other MMO?
You can debate about story, as has been done.
But for the stuff that made Ryzom truely different than a sandbox to hack and slash in? I dont see it, if this is my flaw, so be it. Taking from the sound of forums, i dont think its just my personal flaw of failing to see it.
Everything that made Ryzom different and so interesting still remains a dream, a plan if not also discarded. As it seems a lot of those things are being discarded.
ill stop hijacking this thread now, this is how i feel, we are promised a game we never got and never will get, time is ticking and even if the intentions would be to create the Ryzom i once read about that made me extatic, the sadly isnt enought time and customers left, i would be very very amazed if Ryzom makes it past december.
-EDIT: Rule on in beta testing: Dont believe in miracle builds, more games have said their testers that certain content would be in at retail even tho it wasnt in beta, in practice those games release without those features. Usually there is no such thing as a completely inhouise tested miracle build. What you have is what you get.
Yet again im beta testing some games atm, however i dont believe in miracle builds anymore, i dont put on my pink glasses anymore either, im there im testing, reporting bugs and the game? I will see, not making any conclusions keeping an open mind and taking things as they come.
Before the stage of beta testing, before applying to that is the reading stage however, you soak up all official documents the devs gae you, you use that to make an opinion about the potential of the game, you then decide you want to test or not. These documents i read about ryzom before testing ryzom is what makes me feel ripped of and cheated now compared to what we got.
