another f**k up like the encyclopedia would probably be the last straw for me. Test test test and hopefully i will still shout yay! when we (finally) get the stuff we have been waiting for. Broken stuff is worse than no stuff imo

All this ironing though takes up to much time, dump the whole lot onto the ATS and see what happens let everyone go there since its gonna be about the only new stuff to play with for a long long time IMO. Maybe have ATS open weekend once a month that everyone can go onto and then the people paying for the game might not feal so helpless.

Keoni, it makes absolutely no sense for Nevrax to push out incomplete content early, just to satisfy the few people that the act might please. I for one pay for a subscription to a fully released product. Nevrax can keep a grip on outposts and other promised content as long as they want, as long as I don't have to deal with another chain of ever frustrating bugs.

Honestly, I would much rather see the Guide staff put together a larger number of shardwide events, whether they tie into the story or not. As much as I enjoy solid roleplay, I have found that staff run roleplay events on MMORPG's are usually limited to the content given in the original storyline and that they rarely run off on tangents, which is what makes for a good epic story. Lord British, anybody? Let us have more scavenger hunts, races, and arena events and I will be happy as a squirrel in a Planter's can.

They're better off not patching at all than patching horrible unbalanced and bug ridden patches. Case in point: Patch 1

Ryzom might have 10x the players today if it wasn't for that series of patches and patching the way you suggest here. Let them test, and preferably keep the players even more informed.

I doubt it, if people didn't have the patience to wait a single week for all the rebalancing to come through then they didn't have the patience full stop. I think EQ2, WoW and GuildWars had far more to do with it and we still have a steady trickle of people coming back here disatisfied with those.

Slightly off-topic:

Why is ATS access limited? I mean, I applied for access 2 months after I started playing - always liked to have access to test servers - and here I am after 6 months still without access. I can't even update my character details on the ATS application page (so they would know that yes, I'm still around and yes I still want access).

So, why isn't everyone allowed on ATS? Or does everyone else have access and I'm the only one who hasn't? :(

In other games test server access was available everyone, maybe a login number limit to lower stress on server. Ok, your character and items were 'lagging 1 month behind live' - or they had a completely separate char- and itemdb in some cases -, but at least you could test.

No I think you'll find it was more a case of poorly written in the first place mate.

Lack of issues?? You call the game being down for hours longer because they introduced a problem with the patch not an issue??

The point keoni is trying to make is that, no matter how much they claim it is rigourously tested, they still introduce bugs. The last patch is a case in point.

What's the point of endlessly delaying a patch because it "needs more testing" if it still causes problems? Apart from as an excuse to delay delivering on your promises.

It's all just smoke and mirrors.

Before, they would have said "Suck it, you need to do this rite again".

Yes, there are issues, there always will be. But if things arn't tested properly there will be more issues that take longer to fix and eventually, after all this work they've done on the spring clean, they'll need another one.

And all because some people on these forums are too impatient to wait a few more weeks or months for good quality content and updates that won't brake the game in horrible, horrible, ways.
