Illegal and naughty activities on my turf? Maybe it' s time to come and collect that long overdue protection money. My people can be very 'persuasive' they tell me.

Maybe you should just listen to your leader and consider it best what they do after all they are the leaders for the reason. You should show your leader respect! Governor Wyler has been threw a lot and didnt just 'fall' into leadership i suggest you go and read up on his history before commiting treason.

I think Riveit got a good point here, I did miss the last battle with kitins scout´s that was in our land but have some own experience from last invasion in januari that was hard with no good generals around.

That is no treason to look after your land but there is a treason when you turn your back against it when there is an invasion.

I have no clear answer on what is right nor wrong but the trykers to be elected as "generals" during events Sxarlet, Dalin, Psylo, Frydeswinde, Pero and Gywidion I find very good and trust.

I have been in battle with most of these trykers and think they will do a good job as "genral".

heh we Trykers are a bit waylayed it seems to me. Especially the formal gorverners, Still Wyler is a good tryker and he did right in helping and geting us on better terms with the Matis, but officially turning us Karavan alliegence went way too far.
Now all the leaders seem to be brainwashed karavan slaves, not taking true Tryker freedoms and beliefs into account.

Yes I think voting for some leaders might be a good idea, I would look towards highlevel and experienced leaders if they pledged to remain true to Tryker's ways of life, change and growth comes from the ground up not down.

Actually I think a Guild Leader Council would be the best plan.
With meetings open to all.

Waylayed? 'officially turning us karavan'? The Tryker swore alligence to the Karavan withing a year of emerging from the roots! So heard a turning, as the tryker have been karavan since way before the last embassy, the emergance, the great swarm. Perhaps you have been listening to too many kamists and not reading your own people's history.

Elected generals? what a daft proposal, by doing that the position of general becomes a political goal of prestige and fame, requiring popularity campaigns to be voted. The generals would not be military strategists and thinkers with years of experience, but whom is most recognised as the most popular and well liked. Those are benefits for a general, but not the reason to make someone a general.

well i guess it all depends on whos history your reading ;P

According to my knowledge Still Wyler swore Trykers to the Karavan just because of his friendship with King Yrkanis, whom he (rightfully) helped. It was nothing more than a political move, (an empty one imho). And nothing more. Now his governors want us to blindly follow them. pff

What nonsense...

I read this message and what daft idiot DARED naming me here as a suggested General? I must say, I am honored by homins thinking I would be fit for this task.

Now a question. These generals, are they the homins keeping an eye on the bigger picture when the kitin invade the lands? Are they the ones fighting in front with the troops? Are they the ones in the back, thinking up great plans homins in the frontlines whould act out?
But mostly, are they the ones doing the same thing when there is war against the Zorai (for example)?

Please let me be me, a sarge in the heat of battle with my fellow homin, not Tryker alone. Loud mouthed in region at times, yes. But that does not make me a general or any representative.

How many generals does one need to tell the sargeants to take their platoon and go out to kill the kitin? And when pointed in a silly direction, how many sargeants just *happened* to have misunderstand?

You can give me your rupertmanagement anytime, but keep your sargeant herding. As a sarge myself I can tell you it is hard and ungratefull.

No, pick a homin who is arrogant, blind for what his fellows think of him and will take credit for any success, but blaim others for failures. A few names come up, but leave me out of this, okee?

LOL!!!! Almost fell off my chair!!

Well I suppose he has the confidence and leadership abilities for a general. And life certainly wouldn't ever be dull!

He'd be easy to see on the field of battle with those ears and we'd never have to worry about getting enough Pero Power Points!

Pero for General!! I second that notion, even if it only makes life a little more interesting (not sure about it improving the safety of the lakelands ;) )

Hmm, if he was general i'd be a ranking Officer!! Oh the power, the trykerettes throwing themselves at me, hmmmm.

OK you've convinced me Riveit. We should have generals, especially Pero ;)

-o-

On a more serious side. Those you list AFAIK are all fine Trykers and I'd be happy enough to follow them. Especially the more experienced ones.

Greetings Trykers,

Much discussion has occurred in the Lakelands over the upcoming elections of Tryker Generals. Some homins have debated for and others against holding elections. I will say that the election of generals is in the ancient tradition of Trykers, for the generals’ power is large and choosing them should be in the hands of all Trykers. If the governor chooses all the appointments then we are all swimming down the stream toward the waterfall of tyranny. As for the generalship being a popularity contest, it should not be. We Trykers are choosing a seasoned war leader who can coordinate battle teams, make good quick decisions, make preparations for the next raid and inspire us all. More than popularity is needed in a general.

Some have called for an immediate vote and a winner announced at once, but we should not move with undue haste and make costly mistakes. When the time comes, all Trykers are called upon to vote their choice and scratch the name on a cuty shell, as was our custom of old.

Frydeswinde has bowed out of the race, but two new Trykers have been nominated, Zee and Kyerna. So the nominees now standing are Sxarlet, Dalin, Psylo, Pero, Gywidion, Zee and Kyerna. Their platforms are not yet clear. Gywidion has promised to return honor and discipline to the Lakelands. Dalin has called for free beer before all battles. Kyerna was heard to ask, “Are there any dappers in it?”

Sxarlet (the Bouncy Candidate) is still holding the lead according to an informal poll with a large margin of error, but the darkhouse candidate Kyerna (the reigning Miss World) has surged forward in a recent count.

I have to say that any position of general, officer, govnor, president is to my Tryker sensibilities more of a figure head, and organizer than a 'Leader/Commander'.

We Trykers value freedom and diversity of thought and actions, the purpose of our leaders is simply someone whom to suggest ways to do things, and someone who is able to deal with political meetings.

For this reason we Trykers though split on the Kami/Karavan issue, must strive to walk together towards an open way which reflects our common beliefs. (This is why i truely think council meetings held weekly with the first of every moon the desicion makeing one (or some such thing) would be of great benefit to all. )
