Every level that should give a title gives one. It means that no title has been removed only renamed.

I'd guess black mage, warlock and shaman were removed because they come from the clasic fantasy setting and thus simply don't fit inside the Ryzom universe. Though that kinda goes for archmage and priest as well.

That's an interesting idea, especially of the Priest title. It does denote a religious position, which isn't really the case. The title "Healer" and "Master of Life" and "Celestial Guardian" makes sense, but how does Priest fits into the "healing" theme? So yeah, probably also a carryover from fantasy settings.

But then again, what about Warrior? and Ranger?

Would it have been better if they come out with totally new alien words for these types? Or would it have been too confusing?

You are only a warrior till lvl101, then you are light/heavy armsman and close fighter (iirc, not that high in melee :o ), while from lvl51 you are a range fighter and not a ranger (uses bows, friend of animals, can tame, yadda-yadda), so I'd say those 2 trees have quite fitting names for what role they have.

The fact that you are called an warrior till lvl101 is because... well... what would you call a melee char till he/she gets specialised? 'Dude/dudett running around with a pointy stick'? :D
