I've noticed a little bit of a drop, but I've attributed it to people in school getting ready for finals not to mention that some people have wandered over to GW to try it out. Interestingly enough, I've seen some old players return, and I've met about 7 new players from Monday through this morning who are brand new to Ryzom so it is hard to say if there is a drop. I played about 14 hours today, and at times there was low pop, but at other times, it was quite busy.

Exams, high profile releases (WoW, then Guildwars*)
I can't say I've seen it affected so much, at least not during Euro-time but I think perhaps, culturally, we're more resistant to the 'next big thing'.
And yeah, people are trickling back too.
*I can't bring myself to say GW, that means Games Workshop

Hey, now is last time to have some decent break and see some RL friends until Outposts come out. After that, you are not going to have any breaks.
I know quite many that are waiting for new content e.g. new rites or outposts until they resume playing. I have been considering this myself too.
And there are other attractions like summer and guildwars. Both, I believe, are great for spending some time occasionally.

Must confess to having bought GW recently but it will never be more than somthing to click at whilst watching clients waiting for the server to come back up, it simply doesnt have the depth and community that we have, even if we all can wish Ryzom development would speed up abit.
Nice to see old names coming back to Ryzom too atm after flirtations with other products.

Not sure about the game, that seems as full as always, but these forums have quietened down a bit.

It's true players have gone else where like WOW or Guild wars but they will come back.
Ryzom has time, for now to get it's act together before the next game to hit the shops comes out and would be a big threat to Ryzom.
I am talking of Dark & light this was due out now but has been pushed back to get the game running right for when it hit's the shops.
I believe this is going to be the biggest threat to Ryzom, all the other games that have come out players have taken a look then come back to Ryzom.

Since the merge i've felt quite happy for meeting more people all round the clock, although its true that the population isnt that big. Even though, SoR has a good "fan" community, as even if they are not playing many will come back when the outposts get introduced. As for forum activity, i don't see it as a decrease in posters, but a decrese in posts, as most of the people who write on these forums are still playing, just babbling less

(which isn't necessarily a bad thing, a lot of nonsense populates MMO's forums and Ryzom is just a lil better than most in that aspect

)

A good amount of the Ryzom players are (university) students, exams are coming up and most of them are quite occupied with thier studies atm. In DOA for example, about half the active members had to reduce thier online time for the past and the upcoming weeks due the above reason

The best things we can do are ways to get avid gamers aware of Ryzom
I was pulled to this game by an advertisement on mmorpg.com about the open beta
Now that its on the top ten list we will have at least a few people joining, so the best we can do is go there and give it a perfect score to try to bump it up to where we think it is. The game already is alot better than the initial reviews said it was... since they added music and got rid of lag, so rather than give it the score you think is right just give it a perfect
(no server bumps, just delay from going overseas)
I dont know what other sites this woudl be good to do on, i know all i go to is ryzom.com, mmorpg.com, and msnbc each day
