I really like the "reverse engineering" idea. One of my favorite parts of EnB was that most of the cool recipies had to be obtained by looting and analyzing items. It gave a lot more purpose to your gameplay than just sitting there grinding levels so you can go click the button at the trainers.
Now for my idea. I posted this in the old NA forums a few months ago...
I would like to see a separate "dye" type of material that can be used in crafting to override the natural color of the materials used.
When I'm constructing my armor, I do so almost exclusively focused on getting the best stats for my style of combat. As such, I'm invariably led to a specific material and, therefore, am always wearing red armor.
By adding a dye material, you allow people to use the materials for the stats they want as well as customize their appearance. This certainly doesn't go against the "reality" of the game as the use of dyes exists in very primitive societies and would certainly be something our Homins are capable of.
Further, medium quality recipes could have 2 dye slots and high quality recipes could have 3 dye slots. This would allow you to control the secondary and trim colors too.
I think the use of dyes could be optional. Just add the extra slot at the bottom of the crafting window. If you don't put a dye there, the armor comes out the color it would in the current system. That way, nothing really needs to change in the quantities of mats needed to craft or the system for calculating the final item stats.

Can you people only recycle ideas? Since I guess the Ryzom developers know these games as well, there are reasons why they didn't pick up some of this, besides the usual copyright and trademark issues.
I am so sorry participating this thread by suggesting something eventhough Ryzom is my first this kind of game.
If idea works in other games, it means it will work in Ryzom too with good probability. Unique ideas are usually bad as those are very likely though when developing those other games and then discarded as bad ideas.
I do not believe that there will be many new original ideas presented in these forums, but devs might get feeling what stuff we would like to see in future.
Copyright & trademarks would surely limit possiblity to borrow designs and graphics of existing real or virtual items but would not have any affect on ideas for game mechanics e.g. reverse engineering (unless actual code is stolen for other game, lol).

This game is Tekno-Fantasy, not Fantasy

We already have bazooka ( Launchers )
SemiAutomatic Pistols or SA Rifle would be very cool...
Being able to shot little burst of 3 bullets...

Never be afraid to post, but with posting come the fact that others will comment on your opinion.
Sky - is right in the fact that 'ryzom' does need to have other games features added to it.
However ..... one idea and a discussion (constructive) leads to more ideas and eventually to 'new content'.
I followed the thread which talk about item destruction.
In that thread is a gem, posted by Psylo ..... a in screen message that you pick is dead. That one scentence made the whole thread worth while.
The is another secret in that thread, that I have spotted..... But I already knew that poster was one of the masters of Atys and I read every word he writes.

if they could add more types increase the unique items by creating some nice looking swords etc i'd be more then happy

I didn't mean to attack anyone personal. I am just frustrated or amazed to see people still post tons of suggestions / ideas for things that the developers just have to include. Even though you can clearly see that they don't manage to get the things that are planned implemented in a timely fashion. A rough design of outpost on ATS in 3 MONTH. Slowly I come to believe there are only 2 or 3 developers left in total (for Ryzom).
I always fear that the more things people suggest the more like it is that the developers or whoever sets development priorities get sidetracked AGAIN.

they should have just some miscallaneous crafting plans that don't really give any skills bonus boost, just nice to look at. Like a chair, or pottery, or a kami doll.
