One of the Stormdancers, and a RL friend of mine, Cotts, is running Ryzom on his newly built beast of a machine. He understandably runs everything on max, but to get an idea of just how important RAM is to the smooth running of Ryzom, he has 2Gb of ram, and after playing for a few hours, running around, TPing and travelling to another land, Ryzom had eaten up nearly 1.5Gb of ram.
Talk about resource intensive! Hehe.
He's running a dual 3.4Ghz Xeon processor setup, running the new RC of Windows Server 64bit OS, with the aforementioned 2Gb of ram, and a Radeon 9800. Not sure on the specifics of the graphics card, it was the one that came bundled with a HL2 voucher. Thats one stupidly excessive system, but man, its the only system I've seen that can handle the sheer amount of pre-caching of resources when travelling long distances with maxed out settings.
