Yeah, in the movie "As Good As It Gets" Jack Nickelson has to give a complement to a woman in a restaurant, he says to her "you make me want to be a better person". Well, Ryzom makes we want to have a better PC =) hehe .... serious though, right now the game just about runs at "default" settings, but some people get to enjoy Ryzom at it's best and I'd love to be one of them. Maybe the people who run Ryzom at max can give a little advice on what to buy or tell their specs? I'd love to have a little shopping list in mind while I try to set some money aside =)
PS: Ryzom makes me want to stay up late aswell......how very silly of me..

But a GeForce FX 5900, all settings maxed. It is the most beautiful looking game ever made (IMO), the environment, the mobs (the shiney shells on them), the animations....The only complaint is the people are too nice though

Re: Ryzom makes me wanna upgrade my PC
I must be blind really,
I ran everything maxed out for ages, then due to the game crashing sometimes e.g casting animations and large expanses of water, I turned the settings down to medium and hardly noticed the difference.
maybe I aint paying attention and am too busy playing

Re: Ryzom makes me wanna upgrade my PC
1024x768 full screen, all maxed:
AMD64 +3400
1Gb of cheap RAM
GeForce FX5600
700k cable
Previously I had the same spec but with an AMD +1700, still with everything maxed but lower max clip distance. As far as my own experience goes, the thing that having a higher spec did for me was allowed me to set the max clip distance to max which has really helped as you can see mobs etc from over 200m away, big help when trying to get to difficult places.

Call me Legion, for we are many...
Re: Ryzom makes me wanna upgrade my PC
We have two machines running at home. One has max clip distance on max and the other is currently set at default.lazarus wrote:max clip distance to max which has really helped as you can see mobs etc from over 200m away, big help when trying to get to difficult places.
Its quite disturbing the difference between the two setting.
When we are both stood in the same place, The machine set on max will SEE the Kinchers, the other may only see 1 of the group!
So a less here is, when travelling MAX you clip distance. However I am sure this is one of the reason I crash regularly in FairHaven, huge pop of unhidden entities. Pyr on the other hand is great for movement, even though its population is greater!
Re: Ryzom makes me wanna upgrade my PC
I have a AMD 1,4 Ghz with 512 MB RAM (2x256) with a Radeon 9600 PRO..borg9 wrote:P4 3.2

But it is a Madview Radeon 9600 PRO 256MB...and it turns out there's nothnig PRO about the card, I've seen 128 MB cards with faster memory...
All on a ASUS A7V 266 mainboard....as I said...it just about runs at default settings at lowest resolution.. What brand/specs is your Radeon 9600?
(This may mean I only have to upgrade my CPU+RAM+MB =) )
