I wouldn't get too worked up about it.
I don't think the feature will ever get implemented.
May as well ask when the Karavan will release a line of hoverboards, or the Kami will churn out magic carpets.
It certainly isn't worth stressing over.

Strongly agree. Make things work before making more bugs.

Everyone is happy that this game is nothing like other games. But now I see people just coming up with ideas to make it just like the others. Taming and having pets 'would' almost definitley call for revamp on skills(cap). I find it great that I dont have to make 4-5 maybe even 6 characters to master all the skills. Because of the no cap, it would lead to super uber characters. Sure if you have high level melee and elemental youre not uber. But go ahead and throw in a level 250+ mob and tell me what you think now. No skill caps, please god no taming!

I'm not a big fan of pet classes in other games, but it could be implemented in SoR so as not to unbalance skills.
There are two types of pets that could be tamed: 1) packers/mounts, and 2) attack yubo/gingo/torbak/kincher (OK, no Kinchers allowed).
A skill line to allow taming and training of mek's or other packers/mounts would be similar to foraging in that resource would be gathered out of combat. This type of skill would just be a SP/time sink similar to cosmetics.
Attack pets could be balanced if they: 1) require a link to control (one pet per person, parrots prefered); 2) require that the controller hold a pet control wand (the graphics are already there); and 3) drain both sap and stam and possibly hp. Just the link requirement would mostly balance PvE, but you wouldn't want to kill someone's pet and end up half dead and nearly out of sap or stam while the pet owner is at full health and full of sap/stam.
All offensive actions in SoR take something out of a homin, so why should controlling Bucky the Killer Yubo be any different.
