375 lb is the magic number; after that you start slowing down, and your skills act as if they are at a lower level. At 500 lb, you can't move and have 0 skills.
The entire inventory system is not particularly well designed, but this one adds insult by the effects not being documented.
Cast speed and sap consumation.
Re: Cast speed and sap consumation.
OK slow it down please! I don't really get the meaining of the stats of the equipment. Lets start with armor right?
Durability: how many HP the armor has - OK
Lightness - how heavy it is - OK
Dodge modifier - how many dodge point it gives - OK
Parry modifier - the same as above - OK
Protection factor - ???
Maximum slashing, smashing, piercing protection - ???
What are theese letter stats? Anyone can tell me?

Protection factor - the maxium % of damage protected against.
eg hvy has around 50% protection.
if a mob hits you for 100 dmg and you are in hvy with 50% protection, the armour will absort upto 50 dmg (see max slash etc).
Maximum slashing, smashing, piercing protection - the maximum damage absorbed.
ok your wearing hvy with a protection factor of 50% and a max slash protection of 60.
if you are hit for 50 slash dmg ... the follow happens:
50% of 50 dmg = 25 dmg.
25 dmg <= 50 max slash.
result = you take 25 dmg, armour absorbs 25 dmg.
screen shows: xxx hits you for 25 (50) dmg
if you are hit for 500 slash dmg .... the following happens:
50% of 500 dmg = 250 dmg
250 dmg > 50 max slash, therefore only 50 points are absorbed.
result = you take 450 dmg, armour absorbs 50 dmg.
hope this is clear.
Re: Cast speed and sap consumation.
Well i still dont get the use of medium armor exept that femail characters look nice in it. 25% absorb but no meaningfull base speed boost.

Re: Cast speed and sap consumation.
Medium armor made some sense pre-patch 1, when mobs did significantly less damage and fights lasted a lot longer - so you were in essence trading less stam use for a little hp loss.
Don't see many people in it nowadays.

Re: Cast speed and sap consumation.
If you have the sap to spare, medium armour can add that little extra of protection, compare to light, to a spellcaster.
