Question about forum avatars

I saw someone else ask this in a different thread and thought I'd ask about it too.

I see that some people have avatars under their names here in the forums. I know how to do avatars on other sites, but I'm having trouble figuring it out here. I'm assuming you need to somehow click on your forum name and then edit settings and such, but every time I click on my own knitcucumber name I get an error message telling me:

"knitcucumber, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."

Oooookay. Why would I not have permission to access my own profile? Was my account so terribly fubar during the carry-over from beta to retail that I'm partially broken? Does that explain why my Klients login doesn't work? Am I only partially here? Just enough to log in to the forums and the game, but nothing else?

Or am I just grumpy enough that it feels like the internet world is against me today?

Finally figured it out. Go to bottom of page and on the right hand side you will see "Forum Jump" with a dropdown menu next to it. Scroll up to "user control panel" which is right near the top, and you should be able to customize from there.

you can go to bottom of page where the forum jump menu is and go to User control panel or use the http:// at http://ryzom.com/forum/usercp.php?

I do believe you need to tell it your email address and do the "pretend you are 13 getting your parent's permission" thing before you can change the avatar. Click the pulldown menu at the bottom of this thread and go to control panel. use the links on the left of that page.
