Tetra:

THANKS!

Now on topic, bah forget it, this is another DEAD HORSE

Anywho, DT asked for it by declaring the Nexus as matis only, only thing I could think of at that time, was that they wanted to RALLY all of the Karavan folks in to fight against the Kami in a simi roleplay scenario.

Well, just so happens, people went and had fun, so from 2 different angles on this, first off, it was roleplay, because 2 guilds tried to claim a territory, where as the game engine allowed battles, but since there are no forts, it was more of a test of strength.

Secondly, everyone there had fun in general, granted the people who probably didn't have fun was any harvestor there that got nailed in the cross fire prior to the slaughtering.

Step back, take DEEP breaths, this is just the tip of the iceburg folks, when the forts in the nexus and PR are enabled, what are you going to do when DT takes Melinoe in, claims a fort, and you have to lay seige to get them out of it?

Going to be alot tougher than an open field battle.
For those who know about today, I have a supprise for you tomorrow.

tetra wrote:Actually I started my complaint when DT threw out his little sad story about how he got killed at the spawn point by a larger group of higher level players and got flamed for it :P . He chose to play the pvp game and suffered the concequences. Had I not been at work I would likely have been right there helping to kill DT too. I simply feel that it's important to point out that he brought those concequences down on himself, and that there are folks who want no part in these little games that can be made into instant victims if folks don't care enough to think about them.
It wasn't a story... it was the one thing done that was not in good fun. I provided a screenie showing 9 folks attacking outside the area we had declared our fun would take part in.

We have pretty much found the ultimate way to give everyone a break from the standard grind... I can see by the majority here that it will be fine and we will always have negative folks like you that want to make noise. What I also said since you have shown yourself to be a historian of "DTisms" is that we dont attack anyone in roots that hasn't proven to be hostile by attacking our harvesters. Did that warrant the 9 v 1 griefing at the portal ? My bad... You all did the same to Wylkroe as well, it's all fun unless someone tries to make it not fun... apparently thats the role you and a small small minority are taking.

Actually the only thing that stuck out and made us change anything was the folks we sparred with were using gear we made for them in many cases. We have stopped selling outside guild pretty much now...

Geez, I wasn't even there and I found the whole thing (in-game occurances and thread posting) entertaining. Sounds like some people are *gasp* having fun with something in ryzom. Glad to see this :D

As for the people gripping about people having fun, shove off, aight? Everyone plays for their own reasons, no need to take a crap-stance towards them. Let them bicker, let them squabble, let them have their fun. I don't see a fun-police skill on my action progression window, so ya aint grinding that up here ^^;

Honestly, knowing both sides, there was some 'role-playing motivation' involved. Most people who were directly involved on each side were participating in a semi-roleplay aspect. Just because it's not what you expect/call role-play doesn't mean it isn't for them.

Blarg to those who are being poopy towards others fun and games. Kudos for the people having fun with all this.

What happens when we have to fight the real threat though, ya'll remember who I'm talking about right? The Kitins? I can just see it now, all thanks to Nevrax wanting homins killing homins, we're out trying to defend matis towns vs kitin attacks, get killed and the only person around to rez you is someone whom you were buy trying to kill just a few days early due to ideological differences between the two guilds so all you get from them is a sneer as they move on leaving you to your dirt nap (luckily there's currently no DP during invasions so you just spawn at portal). For many members of my guild and other guilds this game went from pleasant to ugly with one patch and what happened two nights ago was a prime example. Sure it may have ended up being fun but in the beginning it wasn't about Karavan, it was about one guild declaring that Fyros would not be allowed to enter the forest of the nexus (I get enough of this kind of crap in real life, I didn't wish it here and I deplore Nevrax for bringing to the game). This is what was relayed to me by a member of Melinoe. I asked him about Zorai in the nexus and his reponse was that they didn't have much of a problem with them. It was the initial stance that Melinoe took that left a bitter pill in alot of people, one that caused much heartburn and agony when trying to deal with the fact that if they responded to the aid of those that were being killed they would then be pitting themselves directly against other Matisians. OOC has always stood for the unity of all races towards the common threat of the Kitin and what happened in the Nexus was a blow to that unity. I applaud the guilds that responded and in the future we will not be so hesitant in responding to the call for help. I know this may make us unpopular with Melinoe but we must stand by our Guild ideas, though if we see you taking a dirt nap we'll still rez you.

Let the PvP showdowns continue! The more the merrier! Now with PvP, some more QUEST-LIKE events can occur... just think about it. The option to join the Harbringers of whoever vs all homins... or on the flip-flot, killing renegades who RPK. I think it just adds a little spice to the game, as long as people can RP it. Even without proper RP, killing baddies who think a little smarter and that can nuke/heal/stun/root your butt or get rez'd by a buddy.... it adds a whole new concept to the game. Lots of new content with PvP now if you think about...
In response to the ignorant players out there:

I have more heart than anyone would know :) I will let you in on a little secret... I am doing this for my newborn daughter... no one else... I like that game, but I do not have the time anymore. My first priority is to my daughter. End of story.

Guess what? Even though this is a game, they are trying to add some real world elements... no one is perfect, some people go over the deep end and start killing their teammates(co-workers) or kill a woman and then steal her baby from her womb (read the latest newspaper), I mean no one just wants to be the "good" guy and kill some NPCs, they need to have a little diversity. This isn't a full blown Shadowbane or Lineage but it will add some elements from those game and I think it will balance out very nicely in the next fwe months. A lot more people will do events based on PvP I think, and it will add a whole new gameplay to the game. Whenever these outposts become a reality in this game, Guild vs Guild will be outstanding I would hope. Time will tell...

Ahhh... but the thing is... it's NOT like any other game out there! How many MMORPGs have you ever played? I have played over 14 MMORPGs in my little 4 year MMORPG span, tried many 1 month trials and cancelled many many subscriptions (my latest was World of Warcraft). The game enviornment is mainly based on it's subscribers (the players). That is what makes a game. I think we have a predominantly mature user base here to have some fun with this PvP.

I know that my guild does for sure.

It was the most fun I'v ever had. Before this night I had lost faith, I had lost hope
due to the endless grind. Now I have new goals to aim for and I know for a fact that when
a kitin raid does come and we all have to band together, the people that I fought with and
agenst that day will make one hell of a fighting force.
