Hello,
Ok, my main character is now low 30s Fight and 22 Offensive magic, I have travelled to the mainland, and I am loving the game! A lot
That said, I am still none the wiser regarding stanzas.
I have read the manual, and any guide on the net I can find. They each use the same example from the manual and devote a whole <amazed look on face> half a page or something to the explanation of the action system/stanzas lol, and for me, my friend and my bro, it's not good enough.
I am still really confused. I can solo easily and get around 1700xp for fight xp and around 700 magic xp at the moment on the Zora mainland, and I do not believe I have used 1 stanza yet, though I could be wrong. I certainly havent made a new action thats worth while hehe. The only one I made was the one with the acid bolt from the manual's example.
Would anyone be kind enough to explain in detail how to use stanzas to useful effect? When I will realistically start to run into needing to use them? Some decent examples of fight/magic/craft/harvest actions made using stanzas? Even a link to a guide worth a dapper would be helpful and not just the copy and paste ones I have found
I understand the Action and Credit I think, action is a positive stat to the action, and credit is the tradeoff negative stat to the action, but at this time I don't know how to create a new action worth anything, and what is and isnt a stanza when I click on my trainers.
I hope you guys and gals can make heads or tails of what I'm saying. I feel that I am running around in a fog of war with 75% of the games beauty (Modular Action thingy) hidden from me and can't see me working it out any time soon.
Like I say, at the moment I solo with acid and fear, the standard ones I bought, or just using the extra damage mellee skill I also bought, but would love to be able to understand the Modular Action system and stanzas.
Thanks and have a great day

Re: Need serious help regarding stanzas :)
popular Stanza combos
Melee, Increase Damage + Accurate Attack + Bleed
- Credit mix between Stam and HP. (Credits take off the amount of the credit shown on the info per hit/miss)
Result
Very Strong Hit with a greater accuracy and with a DOT(damage over time) factor. Bad point very resource hungry with out the correct personal hp/stam regen rates
Magery, Heal,Sap, Stam gift, ice, rot (separate of course) + Bomb effect + concentraction,
-credit mix of Sap and HP.
Result
Spell does greater area of effect minus fails of incarnation do to concentration. Works well using heal and stam gifts to groups when melee's are in play(heals 2+ at a time). Bad point very resource hungry with out the correct personal hp/sap regen rates.

HI, thanks for the reply
I use the increase damage, so I would be able to purchase accurate attack and bleed from the trainer and then create an action with those in?
Seems simple enough from your examples hehe.
Thanks. I'll play around with it as I level up

Re: Need serious help regarding stanzas :)
Let me start by saying you can actually get by without having to edit any of the basic actions that you can buy from the trainers. However, where's the fun in that?!
One of the great things about Ryzom is the ability to customize your actions by playing around with your actions. You can make actions that are unique to you, do exactly what you want, use the HP, stam, sap, focus that YOU want.
Every action that you buy from the trainers is made up of 'bricks' or stanzas. There are 2 basic types - options which have a value and credits which you use to balance the cost of the options.
When you buy an action from the trainers, you get the associated stanzas that make it. You can aslo buy additional credit/option stanzas from them. To find out if it's a credit or not, right click and view info.
You can create actions in two ways, by right clicking an empty slot in your action bar and selecting 'Create new' (or whatever the correct words are!) or right clicking an existing action and selecting edit.
Once you have the action window open, you can add any options/credits you have to customise your action. The one guiding rule is the cost of the options and the credits MUST balance. Or rather the credits must be equal to or higher than the cost of the options, your credits can actually be higher, but must not be lower or you can't learn the action.

Has good step by step examples.
Hope this helps!

Yes you can create an action with all those in, as long as you have sufficient credits to balance it.
One of my favourite credits is attack after dodge. When you add this credit to an action, you can only use that action after you dodge but it means you can reduce the stamina cost of an action. If you had Inc dmg 5 and attack after dodge 5 for example, you could create an action which uses no stamina at all! But you can only use it when you dodge.
So in combat you would use your normal inc 5 on repeat and, each time you dodge, hit the edited version to use that. It's surprising how often you actually dodge in a fight and how often you can use the edited one and reduce your stamina usage.
The thing to do is play around with the actions and see which you find useful.
Re: Need serious help regarding stanzas :)
Yep I looked at the thread you linked but it only uses the example from the manual as far as I can tell and I already tried the example from the manual and it seemed useless to me, still use the standard ones to better effect.
I'll read what you guys have said while in game and hope it sinks in.
The fact that stanzas are purchased when you buy the action is very usefull as it makes it easier for dummies like me.
I do dodge quite a bit so that example of using attack after dodge is a good one to be honest
Thanks again
ps: Is it viable to have 1 char using mellee magic harvesting and crafting or would i be better off having a hybrid mage/healer/fighter (which I am at the moment) and another as a harvester/crafter?
Or would a mellee/harvester, my main (hybrid), and a third just for crafting ?
Hehe just want to maximise the efficiency of my characters if at all possible
Have a nice day <looks at clock wishing to play Ryzom)

You can also save some sp points by getting upgrades instead of full actions. So instead of buying acid 5, for example, you buy the upgrade (the ones marked with a yellow 'bang' symbol) and edit your existing spell to add the new acid level in and increase the sap cost.

It really is down to personal preference, my character does a bit of everything. Other players like to specialise. The beauty of Ryzom is you can mix skills and CHOOSE what you do, you're not forced into a particular role like some games.
Re: Need serious help regarding stanzas :)
Upgrades! Got ya I have been buying the full spell each time so far hehe
I finally think I might be able to get on and not have a circle of tweetie birds around my characters head tonight hehe

I'm finding Ryzom is forcing me into particular roles as some are now becoming almost impossible to progress in atm. Mainly because the level I am at makes soloing not practical and I am finding it hard to find teams at the right kind of level.

i agree shadow you cant be an elementalist with just elemental skill you are forced to use melee to get hp to be able to cast your spells =/ you have to regen after shooting for silly ammounts of time waiting for a self heal spell when surely healers should be able to use all that healing power on themselves too
