the quality will also determine the bonuses per piece: a q50 caster pants can boost you up to +25 HP

Raw quality has only one purpose when it comes to light armor (really) and that is how many bonuses can be crafted into the armor. Higher q can carry more bonuses but you'll probably pay more for it too as the crafter has to spend 50 SP per bonus to learn them.

The truly important thing is protection coverage and protection against attack types (mashing, slashing and piercing), as Shrike points out even minimal protection is better than none.

At what level, if any, are bonuses from the raw materials used to craft the armor taken into account? I know I went for all choice materials with the highest dodge mods I could harvest, had the light armor assembled by a 50th lvl armor crafter, and viola! Yep, still '0' dodge bonus when each piece is inspected...

I think it's rather so that the display is bugged. Got myself a heavy armor with maxed dodging and I dodged mobs a LOT more often than in my old light one.

So far i havent noticed parry or dodge modifiers on armor, only those for damage types. so either theses modifiers are bugged and not displayed or at q20 it doesn't matter (which makes no sense as q20 mats show lots of dodge7parry modifiers for yourself and your oppent)....

So far I've never seen those modifiers being anything more than +0, so I'm led to believe that they aren't displaying correctly, and I'm a bit suspicious about that do they even work in a first place. (no noticeable results or differencies, from the top of my head)

Light armor is something you can wear for some ACs, but more importantly at higher levels you also get the big bonuses from the crafter. HP or sap, whatever is important to you.

i have been creating my light pants with mats selected to have dodge maxed at 99. and when wearing them i do dodge a lot. now, the dodge stat stays at 0 no mater how i craft the pants. I really need to test to see if my dodge rate is any higher wearing these pants against a pair selected for low dodge. Has anyone else looked at this

The real question is...how do fancy pants fit into this equation??
