Should one be able to choose an side before an event?
Should one be able to choose an side before an event?
I am curious what the game population in general thinks of this.
Re: Should one be able to choose an side before an event?
I think the decision should be made based on their fame going into the event. They can only join a side with whom they have positive fame. If there's a way to get both Kami and Karavan fame positive and someone has done so, then I think that person should get a choice. But I don't agree with the current system that allows you to totally ignore your previous fame numbers and choose any side.

Didn't we already beat this topic to death in another thread?
Re: Should one be able to choose an side before an event?
I wanted to do a poll and it won't let me add the poll to an exisiting thread.

Gotta agree with Aylwyne [#2]: Should depend on current fame, with only those people having positive fame in both factions allowed to choose.
Not a dead horse...Polls, when well written as this one is, can do a good job of conveying a point to the Devs much better than the usual flame-wars that the forums usually devolve into.

Re: Should one be able to choose an side before an event?
Although I did choose the first option, I do agree with aylwyne. Even though it doesn't apply to many people (and I don't think anyone figured out a way to increase both sides fame post patch 2 part 1, at least I haven't).
I say this because I don't believe in blindly following one side or another. It would all be based off from the situation. To quote G K Chesterton:
As for being beaten to death, not really, it's just trying to get an opinion on something. To see how others feel. Now if there are more polls along this line, then that would be beating a dead horse.

"My country, right or wrong," is a thing that no patriot would think of saying except in a desperate case. It is like saying, "My mother, drunk or sober."

Re: Should one be able to choose an side before an event?
Given that the general game population posts what they want this is being beaten to death. I'll beat you to death to when I see you in game. Maybe not, I'll probably be caught dead to a kirosta..and my melee sucks so I can't really 'beat' people...never mind, forget what you just read.
This poll, like most other polls, usually polls I've made, is totally stupid. The second option already exists and there is no clarification. There are lasting affects determined by what you do in the event. Read Cerest's sticky.
However if you are totally worthless during an event it's possible that there would be no effect whatsoever.
If fame is adjusted like previous events where you turned in mission mats, it's possible just to go and have fun an destroy the mats or whatever. So where is the vote for 'I should have a choice when I join the event of what happens to my character'?
The whole arguement spawned from people arguing that their side should be easier ignoring those of us who get off of work in time to hit our event on our side, or miss part of it for whatever reason. I refuse to vote because I hate all of you. Especially Plarf, he suggested I wear pink armor to 'confuse' the kitin. how do we know they aren't even color blind?
