NPC, "What do you want to buy?"

Post by marct »

Hi, I joined after patch 1, so I am curious as to this feature. I would really like the ability to sell my wares to an NPC who is interested in them. I am not sure why they would have taken this feature out, however when they did why did they not take out my ability to talk to that nPC and ask them what they want?

Cerest, Any insight on when this will be repaired?

P.S. Why are there sooooo many NPC's around town that I can't even interact with?

Many many moons ago you had the ability to sell wares to local vendors. Not only did these vendors like particular items but they also liked certain mats from both creatures and harvested items. Even before retail launched the devs removed the ability to sell non-craftable mats to vendors (don't want the homins making too much dapper I guess). Also, before patch 1 you could sell your items to local supplies also but certain bugs in teh game allowed you to even sell items to vendors that didn't like you. Only thing is, the suppliers themselves were never changed to reflect the changes in the game so they still ask for stuff that not only can you not get off creatures any more but can't even sell to them in the first place.

Thanakar is right, there are also many missions still out there asking for hair and other things that were removed from looting and not changed to reflect this.

Yes, but you can still do the loot missions. The items just magically appear in your inventory after you kill the beasty (you do get a message though telling you that you've received the item)

Zumwalt, have you taken your medication today?

Well, you can still sell your "wares" to merchants. Maybe I'm not understanding your question properly, but you've always been able to sell the items you have looted and the items you have made to merchants (i.e., Raw Materials Merchant, Jewelry Merchant, Melee Weapons Merchant, etc.).

The NPCs are there to add life to the cities. Some may say there are too many and others that there are just enough, it's a matter of opinion.

Cerest, There are some NPC's that will offer a right-click option of "What do you want to buy." I ask this of my fine friends, and they proceed to tell me their greatest desires. I on the other hand have no way of fulfilling the needs of these NPC's. I am told of a time long long ago when I could fulfill these specific needs and desires of my firends and they would handsomely reward me. Is there news on when my friend will once again be able to receive from me the baubles that I bear? And if they no longer desire the findings of my adventures, perhaps my fine friend would care to cease their babbling about such items. (For example, there is an NPC in the Greenseed camp in Matis, and I believe all Hawkers offer this as an interaction.)

:p Now for my "Living World interjecting" If you desire your sanity, stop here!

An interesting twist to this is an NPC only wanting a certain amount in a period of time, and if say they had bought all the pistols they desire, and I asked about the pistols, they could say that they have all they require at the moment and that they will require more in XX time. In fact, why couldn't that be a calculated time, Greenseed have X many guards and warriors, and they battle so much over time, there weapons should degrade like mine, and they could need stuff to keep there tribe running smoothly. If they don't get what they need, their warriors are less effective. The greeters could end messengers to stand at the gates in Yrk and shout their head off about needing stuff. If they don't get the stuff they need, the mobs could almost completely wipe them out and overrun the area. You would need a group just ot make it from YRK to the areana. This would show a need for supporting the tribe, and only assisting them will bring them back to their once previous splendor.

Just a thought.
