erm, what you just described would be kinda stupid, since you can only gain negative fame by choosing sides, so you'd in the long run end up with both negative ôô
anyways, they could also have let it be decided by who you attack first, but the point&click way is simply more intuitive

You gain both positive and negative fame when killing with a chosen side..not just negative fame.

. When you enter a PvP area, and choose a faction (Kami or Karavan for instance), your fame with the faction you haven't choose will decrease to -1 if the fame of the faction you chose was greater than 0, or to one point lesser than the fame of the faction you chose if this one was already less than 0.

All i'm saying that is if you already have high karavan and low kami you should not be able to suddenly chose the kami side to fight for. Your previous actions have already made you a karavan supporter.

This is mainly for event driven situations, not much you can do about it unfortunately, they put months into it, so its not like they can change it on a whim.

The way it plays out:

You enter the Event, choose Kami or Karavan (no neutral available)
Your instant Kami fame goes to 100 if you choose Kami, and Karavan instantly goes to -1.

If you choose Karavan, its fame goes to 100, and your Kami drops to -1, and remains during the duration of the event.

When you leave the PvP area, 30 seconds later, your fame is reset.

There are more than the 3 fame area (global, guild, personal), there is the unforseen (PvP)

Technically, you can switch sides 1 time a minute, provided you can leave the PvP area, wait 30 seconds, re-enter, re-choose, wait 30 seconds for the enablement of PvP, then run back to battle.

Once it moved from ATS to Live, there is not much debate left as to Why should we be allowed to choose, its more of a, what do we do now.
For those who know about today, I have a supprise for you tomorrow.

So basically it really makes no difference if you side with the Karavan or the Kami. It's just a bunch of BS that really has no meaning behind it. So everyone that got the titles of Kami or Karavan champ, the reality is that those titles or the work you did for the various sides means squat. Why do they even bother with the story, with each patch and feature it really does mean less and less.

Its like football, the system needs to know what side your on.
At current only 9 people per team doesn't cover a 200 person event.
Say 100 people go kami and 100 people go karavan, how would the system know who your allowed to target for damage.

You don't want to target a group member, hit them for 2500 damage now do you?

If you accidently did an aggressive act on a group member, the system can compensate and not deal damage if you are on the same side.

Its also an honor system, sure you can choose sides and switch at a whim, but if you choose a side during an event, you should stay on that side during the duration of the event.

Its actually very simple to understand the kami vs karavan events in this fassion.

It seems like it would be so simple to make the system work in a more meaningful way.

When an even occurs, you need to talk to either a Kami or a Karavan NPC to be able to obtain the mission. You'll only be able to obtain the mission if your fame is above a certain threshold with that faction.

If your fame was somehow high with both, you could choose which NPC to talk to to obtain the mission and, conversely, if your fame is low with both, you can't participate.

Which NPC you got the mission from would determine what side you're on and you can only get the mission from an NPC you have good fame with.

It seems like the event itself would have a permanent effect on both fames as well, depending on which side you participated on. Nothing too extreme but maybe something along the lines of the effect 10 regular missions would have.

Very simple, the system would know who you are allowed to target based upon what you normal fame rating is. So if you have >0 with a Kami before the event, you go into the event on the Kami side. If you have >0 fame rating with the Karavan you go in on the Karavan side. If because of some lack of foresight and reasonable game design you were able to get + on both sides, then it takes the higher number and puts you onto that side.

What they are doing is stupid, plain and simple. They are saying that your normal activites and who you normally follow don't mean a thing when it comes to major events and major story happenings.

**And to the person who said if I don't like it, don't play. I'm giving Nevrax till March 22 (that would be 6 months) to provide the gameplay and storyline that matters. So far to be very honest has been laughable.

For the same reason some one from Iraq should be able to chose whatever faith they want to.

CHOICE, we have a right in the US to chose our friends, where we work, IF we want to go to war (by joining the military/guard or not, even in peace time...war can come), what state we want to live in and which political party we wish to vote for...or even if we want to vote at ALL.

And the idea that a race is ALL one ideaology is folly these days. I mean we KNOW that there are Christians in Iraq (they are the target of MUCH hatred these days..but they still exist).

I tend to play the character that is "backwards" the Tryker that is kami aligned, the Matis that leans towards Kami, the Fyros that wants to tinker with Karavan technology.

I guess it goes along with my "road less traveled" mentality.
