I currently have a dedicated firewall/proxy server running BlackICE Defender (firewall) and WinGate (proxy) that protects my internal network from the Internet. My gaming computer is one of the three computers behind this wall of protection and has no problems connecting to other MMORPG's that I play.
Whenever I bring up SoR I can get past the login screen to the EULA, but I never get past the next splash screen to the character selection screen. I always get a client_ryzom_rd.exe NeL Error message with the following reason:
Reason: connection : FES refused the connection (Socket error: Connection to 38.117.236.142:47851 (38.117.236.142) failed (10049: Address not available)).
Now I've monitored my packets going in and out (packet sniffer on the server is a handy tool) and it is not seeing any of the UDP packets coming in. The TCP connections for logging in, selecting the server, etc, show up fine, but there's no traffic trying to come in or go out using that port number.
I did an experiment...and was able to get online, but it is definitely NOT a permanent solution. I shut down the server, installed the firewall software on my gaming computer (no way I'm going online without protection...hehehe), and hooked my gaming computer right up to the cablemodem connection. Was able to get past the EULA and to the character selection/creation screen for the first time. I created a character and was able to play around in the game for a few minutes before I had to hook everything back up to the way it was. Of course as soon as I did that I was back to the same error. It looks like SoR doesn't like dealing with WinGate proxy servers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated in trying to solve this issue. The game looks great, but I'm not going to go beyond my 14 day trial if I can't play.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Help Request connecting thru proxy server
Well...so much for trying out SoR. No replies from technical-NA@ryzom.com yet (it's been 4 days) and my 14 day trial is up in 2 days. Even if they do reply I won't have time to really check out the game.
I found a copy of SoR at one of the local stores for $20 but I'm not about to buy it if I can't play it. Good luck to you all with the game...what I saw looks like it has potential.
