Hey. For a little while now I have been trying this game out. I have lvled characters in many different areas and fully explored the noob island, then went to the mainland. The only thing I really see different in the mainland after exploring it a little is just better items and harder creatures. It is essentially the same but larger.
Do you ever do anything but kill and lvl and kill and lvl and buy new items.... I know this is how most MMOs are, but in other games there is more fun to the lvling. This is because it isn't the SAME thing OVER and OVER. I have liked this game so far...but I don't want to play the same thing over and over since the gameplay isn't THAT fun.
This game seems very limited...
Re: This game seems very limited...
yeah I know read the last paragragh of the long post
Re: This game seems very limited...
Patch two should fix this. The events are great too, but with little warning it can be hard to catch them.

Re: This game seems very limited...
personally, I think that part of SoR's allure is "doing things with other players that you cant do on your own"... i.e. I find leveling boring, but taking a caravan to another land with 10-20 people is super-fun
GUTENTAG WOLFENSTEIN!
GUTENSTEIN WOLFENTAG?
GUTENSTEIN WOLFENTAG?
Re: This game seems very limited...
a game is only as limited as the players and their imagination make it. don't interact with anyone, it will get boring quick. start a war with a rival race and then backstab your own clan to further your own interest....now there's some fun
Re: This game seems very limited...
Did you try foraging and making things? Might make a difference, I find fighting in ANY game stupid and pointless. YEAH I kill my 50 billionth *insert mob name here* aint I JUST the cat's pajamas?? *barf* Ok, next *insert mob name here* I got to get *insert insane level number here* before I go to bed tonight.
Foraging is like treasure hunting, you find the materials, and look....and find...and look some more. And get this...FREE loot, sitting all OVER the place...you just have to pick it up!
Then you have to figure out what material makes the best gear, and then YOU make the item. WOW, you mean I don't have to have 250 other people to gear myself out in the BEST in game gear???! You are KIDDING me!!!
Nope, in this game...you can get the best mats and make the best gear with nothing more than ONE group. And unlike other games, the WORST failures give you an OOPS message, and you KEEP the materials.
But the best thing about this game is the other players. I don't know HOW they got us together, but some of the best players around are in this game, I don't mean the ubberest. We aint ubber, but I mean the best hearts. You need info...ask...we will share. You want a group...ask, we will tell you how to get to us safely and we will help each other get to *insert level number here*, and laugh while we do it.
Soloing is boring. I do it from time to time, because I play the "OH GOD....are you still up" shift. But when I am lucky enough to log on before the cows come home, there are great people online.

This aspect and the open buffet style skill tree makes SoR a great plan. The concern is, "What's it for?" Why grind every tree to 250 just to fight ocyx? The phrase, "Wait for the new content," gets thrown around constantly, but where's the definition of, "new content?" I personally love playing SoR, often up to 12+ hours a day. But how do I recommend it to friends? What do I recommend?
Re: This game seems very limited...
Why recommend the old style EQ to a friend? but many people do/did.
What reason WAS there to log on to EQ? I didn't find many to be honest.
And the content in question is more than likely history, and NEW skills that are "found" either by quests/missions OR more than likely, killing some new batch of mobs found in a WIERD spot.
In ALL honesty...WHAT history or story WAS there to EQ? None I ever found, not one that was worth reading around the typos.

Re: This game seems very limited...
It is very limited, thats why most players are mature and have been playing mmorpgs for a long time... /sarcasm
Remember this game is PvP oriented, the "fun" part is going to the various arenas, defending your outpost, etc. You also have named mobs to hunt, task to complete, exploration, crafting (best crafting ive seen in a mmorpg). Also remember we are still waiting for some features to be implemented.
The Gameplay when you fight is very similar to any mmorpg, click and use skills... I really dont see a big difference between the gameplay in any mmorpg. In my opinion the only thing "lacking" to group combat is some kind of combo, like in FFXI, EQ2...
Anyway i dont find this game limited at all but if you always play solo and dont interact then yeah, its going to get boring really quick. Did you find a guild yet ? maybe its time to look for one...
