Not impressed...

Post by rageman »

Well I goes through heaven and hell to download the 14 day trial. In game I love what I see, and all in all it seams very good.

Problems are though
1) Game doesnt start in full screen... updating my drivers but doesnt seam justified. I have to change the refresh rate in game to brute force it into full screen mode.

2) I have 14 days in which to try this game, and today I cant get in due to the game freezing on entering password and continuing.

3) It's getting a bit annoying to see a creature marked as having about a 1/4 health, but when I hit it, it has full health, and its brought a friend too :P .

All in all, you have a great game, but things like this makes me wonder if I can pay a monthly fee for it.

Sorry about your fullscreen option :(
Yeah, hope the freeze thing is fixed soon - i go on a two week holiday soon and wanted a few hours play before i left... probably wont happen though. Good luck with your 14 day trial.

The last point i love most!!!
I got this last night just before i logged... didnt think to much of it, but since others are getting it will now reports.

Worked like this.... cast spell on Ocyx.... and another and another... as it ran towards me the health bar was getting lower and lower... i thought i had a chance... then WHAM i am dead and suddenly its health bar is full again.

odd,,,,, 55K DP hehe

1. Just alt-tab and alt-tab back.

2. There's just been part1 of a big patch. I am in software development: it's quite normal to have small fixes after a big patch. No matter how hard you test, happens all the time.

3. Try looking at the target health (originally above your compass). That will mostly display the correct health. The friends he brings are annoying, but you will learn soon which bring friends and which don't.

Best reasons (for me) to keep playing:
- The amazing community.
- The graphics keep surprising me.
- No need to make new chars if you want to try something else (crafting or harvesting).
- Did i mention the community?

Yep, you mentioned it :D

Twice, in fact :P

But too be perfectly honest here, twice is just not enough!

We have a fantastic community, even our bad apples taste good ingame :P

If you hang in just long enough, you will find that most of the bugs are very small annoyances, and definately not show stoppers.

(Ingores the major login, issue that has just hit the server, give Soulsnatcher some more coffee! Its the pink wire not the yellow one!)

Not if you fix the bugs you know about BEFORE you release the big patch. Then you don't need as many small patches. :)

But apart from that, welcome to Ryzom! Hope you enjoy your time here eventually and decide to stay! :)

Aha, nope. Sometimes just holding on to the date you promised is more important than a couple of more bugs. Imagine how you would react if the patch was 2 days late and still had some bugs (less than now, but you wouldn't know that). Welcome to software development :D

On the pluse side ....

You can now walk in to the Roots, without playing tag with Kinchers.
You can change your look. (Mel loves my new short back and sides, only found out last night she hated my old hair cut :D )
Mobs are now the correct level for the areas, this is just awesome, and the new players will never know how lucky they are that they don't have to sneak past lvl200 mobs to get to ql100 harvest spots!
Travel will be challanging but not 'impossible' as it has been in the past.
The buzz about the Encyclopida(sp?) is fantastic in Region chat in Tryker!

On the minus side ....

You click a mob, which you can SEE is a knicker, and a little box says its Fred the butcher. Oh dear, this is so bad I will sit in my apartment and do nothing till its fixed.
Crashing in cities - fixed in under 12 hrs
Marker placement - fixed in under 12 hrs

If they release perfect patches, I have nothing to do on the Forums because no one would be posting anything. perfect patches=perfect game=nothing else need to be added. The what would I do at work..... work I suppose, and that would be BAD, Real BAD.

Well, this certainly is the worst thing that could happen.
