I am one who lost all my map markers to the runtime error. I am also very sorry I never thought to ask this question before...
Where and what are the names of the files that store my personalizations?
Why did my macros survive the runtime but my windows settings, map markers, and chat text types colors all get wiped?
Please tell me what I can do on my end to prevent a setback like this again.
Trust me, I am not a programmer, I need this spelled out in words I can understand. :)
Thanks in advance to any and all who offer me assistance with this.

Re: My personalized files
Save as often as you feel the icfg files in the "save" folder of your Ryzom directory.
Files name start with your character name.
Restore them if you loose your in game windows settings and/or landmarks

As bidochon said, you are safe if you keep a backup copy of the save directory. To complete the inof, I'd suggest not adding landmars while you are extracting/crafting, it seems to cause crashes and corrupted files.bidochon wrote: Restore them if you loose your in game windows settings and/or landmarks
