for straight grinding...break out ye olde 'prospect up to fine mats', will only bring up basic and fine mats, which are universal just like PR are. I mean, if you are just grinding, who cares about the stats?
Money....grinding on q110 mats I make 110-120k per level on choice, basic/fine is more around 100k dapper....darn.
51-90 will be arse under the current system. But lets take a wider look at it than have and have not.
First, under the current set-up, to get from 51-90(when you would be able to harvest q100 mats out of gates of obscurity and windy gate), you have 2 options. Buddy up with someone who is lvl 90+ in PR forage and careplan for them. You'll get xp, they'll get mats, kinda like a tutoring thing (now imagine they impliment pvp in PR....are these foraging duo's going to as easy a target? dun think so). The other option is to, once again, buddy up with someone who has 90+ in PR forage, and prospect for them. Same deal as prior. You get your levels, you get to spend time with friend(s), they get mats, and when pvp hits, you can watch your buddies back. Overall a win-win for everyone except those that
insist that harvesting is a solo-only skill.
Second, the depletion bug (sources come up with 0 source content) aside, there are a number of zones to harvest the q100-150 PR mats, and q150-200, and q200-250. Windy gates is still pretty gosh darn easy to navigate, less patrols, no kincher gaurds right at the end of the tunnels. Elusive forest was even moreso. Hardly any patrols when before there were literally 6 patrols going on the same route about 50m apart. Getting nice q150-200 mats out of there no problem. From the looks of it Underspring is pretty navigatable as well to find various sources without getting yourself killed, since
allregions had their kitin patrols reduced in number, and I believe q250 mats can be found in there.
Screwing around for about an hour or two, managed to fill up my pack with over 400 mats, remove half my dp (yes I died while snooping around, occupational hazard) and have an enjoyable time doing it. All in the prime roots.
Third, with the increased mob density in certain areas (most notably over/near harvest spots), bringing a party of friends to kill the mobs and grind some fight/magic levels isn't half a bad idea now, since there is a respectable amount of mobs you can pull. Compared to before where it was maybe 4-5 mobs to kill...then sit around waiting for spawns. And like the first point, this is a further deterent to pk'ers. Not only do you have a pair(or group) of foragers to deal with, you also have a whole party of big scary fighters and mages. Not such a prime target anymore ey? And it's fun for th whole guild
.
These are just how I'm seeing it unfold. Before pvp in pr was a bad idea because it's dang boring sitting and gaurding a single harvester, now they are making it more of a necessity to group up down there, so that it wont be random people runnin around ganking, it'll be possibly groups and guilds of people fighting over that q250 oath bark source that just turned supreme. I.e. pvp with a purpose.
The only current 'problem' I see with PR harvesting, is prospecting empty sources (instead of getting the depleted message). They're working on it. But I've still been able to pull a good 80-100+ mats out of a spot before it ran dry and I moved on. Which...isn't a bad thing either...sitting in the same spot harvesting the same mat to fill up your entire pack..gets kinda dull.
