While yer at it how about a logical way to tell if the server is back up?
The server status page is pointless.Always says open.
The shard status login "online" is pointless.Always says online.
Are other games this screwy about server status?
P.S. Don't post about Klients as a way to tell if the server is up please, if you think sending yer login info to that MS-DOS lookin thing is a good idea more power to you. I personally do not.
This is PATHETIC !

you can input your log in in the Plug ins so you don't have to type it in.
And I will just recount SOME of my LESS vivid/horrid memories about EQ server stability.
First DAY that Velious was open, Velious servers (all the servers handling the new expansions lands) crashed repeatedly for hours, Luclin...Ugh servers were up and down for WEEKS after that expansion, Raid zones would crash ALL the time Velkitor's Labyrinth crashed at LEAST twice a week, less than 200 people in zone and *smell of frying hardware* *screaming of IT techs as they run around trying to put out the server fires* KABOOOM.
And yes, Luclin was WELL into EQ's fourth or fifth year POST release.
Oh we could talk for a LONG time about Horizon's and THEIR servers *snickers* inventory lag of UPTO an hour, combat lag that prevented people from adventuring for LONG periods of time (I was a level 30 ranger, and a level 90 mason, get the picture?)
MMORPG's as far as my experience goes, post patch is a pretty tricky time. Do NOT count on the servers EVER coming up on time, much less early. DO count on a post patch fixer upper or two....or three. DO count on bugs, hickups, typos, language issues, and all out server crashes.
Doesn't matter HOW good the coding/coder is, just the nature of the beast.

Re: This is PATHETIC !
Does this make it any less pathetic? Because the problem has happened before (repeatedly) does that make it now something that is okay? We have the right to complain and maybe someday it'll get betterlyrah68 wrote:you can input your log in in the Plug ins so you don't have to type it in.

I'd say she is saying it's better than what it was for EQ, or shadowbane(from my experience).syneris wrote:Does this make it any less pathetic? Nothing wrong with constructive criticism, it's the occassional incessant(sp?) whining some people can do the the boards, now no one should have the right to do that. But, that is just my opinion

Re: This is PATHETIC !
Yep, that is part of what my point was. I have seen Ryzom server crash twice
since release (prolly has a few more times than that, I am NOT a "hard core" player), and a few WOOPS server coming down NOW, log out. (In other words, they SAW it crashing and shut it down first, which is better on the memory if you can do that). If I had to count the number of times I had to help "clean up" after a server crash on EQ...I don't think I could get an even NEAR accurate number...to be honest.
