Too much down time and reasons not transparent

Post by draggi »

Hi world,

I'm posting my own opinion and feel free to add your own. But please don't start a flame war.

I feel that there is too much down time for SOR (especially these pass few days). The most hateful thing is that Nevrax never released any information about the reason why the server is down (except for the login server stuff)

I try to be more understanding (but how can I do so if I'm unable to judge whether they have purposely make disabling the server a habit or all the occurances are due to different reasons)

Also, I get a feeling that whenever a patch is to be done, the server will be down for many hours. Personally I tie this to poor planning, please correct me if I'm wrong. With good planning, they just need to replace those patched files and run a program that converts the database (if that is needed)

Also, I hate it when they don't give me an estimated time of completion. I don't mind if the patches take longer than the estimated time but with the estimated time, I can do other things before the estimated time and not as what I'm doing now - keep checking back every now and then.

I will like to stress again - all those issues are frustrating and annoying added together

Thanks for hearing my grumbles

would be a good place to find out when downtime is going to occur due to patches.

http://ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8248

is a current estimation on the current patch and why. The last 2 patches have been longer than normal due to changes in the server architecture (both hardware and software). Normally patches last a couple hours.

I do believe they need to have 3 descriptions for the servers: Up, Down, Locked. Would help clear up alot of confusion people get when logging in. Locked would be for when the servers are up and running, but not available for log-in due to various reasons (server reboot and world is loading, server is up, but CSR team is doing test runs to make sure everything is working properly).

Thanks Zzeii, finally get the estimated time of completion. The server will be down for 7 hours.

Sorry never noticed that there is an announcement forum here and thanks for enlightening me.

Yap, I also want this feature. Have brought this issue up but they just tell me to go Kclient to check if the server up. Just now tried kclient but it is a dead city or rather nobody answers me. (And I did not see any messages been posted)

They shall really have the UP, DOWN, LOCKED status for the server status.

Also, it is best to include the current (now) EST time (or the time ryzom is using) in the server status page. (btw is there any place for me to get the current EST time).

I'm not using EST time zone and is too lazy to keep converting.

And I forget about this. Thanks Zzeii
