Swimming

Post by sydius »

Anyone else think that maybe swimming should use up stamina? Slowly, but surely, while moving?

Only reason I ask is because it seems weird to swim around Lakeland endlessly as a low-level character and never be forced to dry land.

But then, aren’t they considering underwater monsters that can eat you? That would be totally awesome as well! I’m not sure how you would go about fighting them, though. I can already feel the tension of the “Jaws” effect… dun dun… dun dun… dun dun dun… DUN DUN! *chomp*

I can’t wait for diving, either – underwater tunnels to new areas, anyone?

Ships or boats would be awesome too, if they do it right.

Swimming in SoR has a lot of potential, and with such beautiful water effects, it’s even better.

spot on
a boat would rock, like a mount in the water, which reminds me, how will mounts work for water?

do packers follow you through water? I don't own one in tryker lands so I don't know this.. also can packers zone? another good question..

yea, I can't wait till the water things increase, including the underwater stuff, and spells / items to let you breath under water..

going to be good stuff a year from now
For those who know about today, I have a supprise for you tomorrow.

I said this all in another post, but I think boats will be a very good thing to have in SoR. They could just make docks to dock them at in all of the towns, and make them so that if they aren’t docked, they decay over a period of time (perhaps 1 real-world day, if they aren’t used) – you know, just to keep the number of floating barriers down.

I think they should come in various sizes, but at least ones big enough to carry 5 to 6 people comfortably. I see so many people swimming in long lines, the faster ones having to wait, the slower ones frantically splashing behind. A nice player-navigated group transportation system would make teams much more enjoyable when traveling over water. Not to mention it would be a safe alternative to being eaten by deep-sea critters.

Boats are just one of those "lost technologies".
Can't expect us poor homins to invent them ourselves, can we?
We'll just have to wait for someone to "teach" us.
Pretty fair considering it takes crafting 1 and a spear plan just to make a pointy stick. ;)

Having played a Tryker and swum more than I walked...I must say that ALL that under the water has MY interest. I want to hunt under there, explore and FORAGE (ok I admit I got gathering on the brain). Boats are a pain in the fanny in ANY game I have found them. I think it has to do with putting a MOVING object FILLED with lots of people on different systems and connections together. Kinda like cloaks, nice but not worth the coding sometimes.

I for one would like to see one of the new races be an aquatic race that LIVES under water, and Trykers be their out of water spokespersons.

Or just underwater lost Tryker cities would be cool.

Oh yes, they'll follow you across the water now... *thump thump thump* like they're walking across land. They even look like they're walking on the water. Which I guess why they're always looking down their snouts at me. Talk about your high horses!
