Why do fighters/range fighters get Swords, Axes, Pilums or Rifles and Launchers to choose?
Magicians only can choose those amplifiers!
I would say, we want our Staves back to use for spells too.
Nowadays, the staff isn't used by players alot. I think mages will choose staffs much more if they give bonuses too.

Agree.. Too has not found sense of replacement of a staves on gloves

I prefer gloves to staffs, but aye maybe more options in the future sometime maybe if ya want maybe somewhen

Mage gloves should be armour, not weaponry. Mages should be able to wield other weapons than some silly boxing gloves.

I think that, if possible, we should have a choice:
All things that can act as a magical amplifier should take extra mats to make for at least things like focus items etc. This would introduce an extra cost into using these for melee, as they're not as good as proper weapons (of a given Quality Level - this is a basic assumption and holds all the way through).
"Wand" - The original staff, For the dedicated magician. 1 handed, but having all the combat stats of a feather duster. Best magical stats though.
"Gloves" - For the offensive mage, pretty good durability and hit speed and damage for melee activity. They shouldn't be really good weapons, but only really slightly worse than dual-daggers in terms of damage over time (the other Hand-to-Hand weapons). They will however get no real defensive modifiers (+ to dodge/parry). In terms of magical effectiveness, they're slightly worse than the wand, but only by maybe 5% or so.
"Mage Staff" - FOr the defensive mage - The best weapon in melee, with pretty good +to parry/dodge potential and of course lots of durability, and though not as good Damage over time as things like pikes or two handers, not completely pointless. Magically it is the worst, but its still only about 10%ish worse than a wand. For melee it uses 2h Melee, rather than hand-to-hand.
The idea is that mages can be pure mages, and get a benefit for the risk of being useless if their spells don't work, or they can try to aim for a bit more survability by having a half decent chance to thump it to death (and still be able to chuck a decent spell if needed)
The staff is aimed firmly at the melee-mage hybrid, allowing them to not have ruinously expensive or pointlessly slow magical attacks, but keeping half decent (if defensively rather than damage oriented) melee abilities.
"But you can just switch" - you can, but it takes time, and also this is very much about style and choice - Yes, the Powergamer melee mage hybrid may have his pike and his wand, and will switch as needed, but in the relatively quick PvE fights (that I've seen anyhow), that can be quite an important bit of down time.

i did like the old mag amps the dmg on them was alot higher i used to make 50q ones with 66 melee dmg nowadays your lucky to get that on one over 150q so you have no melee back up if stuff goes wrong

I like the gloves! Why be like every other fantasy world where mages use staves? Be different, learn to think in new ways!
