Curious about something

Post by ubumutt »

I started this game a few weeks ago... I made a char and made my way to the brave big world after reaching the recommended mid thirties. The choices I made were horrid and so I find myself once again in the newbie islands and I find that some of the same players who were established here when I started are still here. Not char rerolls but still playing the same characters that they were playing when I started the game and so I am wondering...what are the benefits of newbie land trolling? Are you more likely to not have to reroll your char if you stay in the newbie lands for so long? I admit that over a certain level the newbie lands became very easy to stay alive in, but I did not find the benefit of safety a balance to the lack of experience that I was gaining? Would I be better to stay for a much longer period of time with this new char?

you learn a lot about the game in newbie... not ALL the game, but the basics... also you can make a ton of money there easily and its safer :) I personally left when my magic hit 30 and my fight was 20. Usually when you have mastered a fight/magic skill past 20 you and have been there for more than a few days, then you should be go to go. A week there, you can come to the 'real world' with lots of experience and lots of money to buy those nice q150 light armor when you are only a level 30 ( I see a slight balance problem there btw)... but that is just my opinion, it is truly UP TO YOU when you wish to get off newb island. I would honestly love to make a new toon up to make my craft more profitable...i sorta diversified a little too much :( )

Sorry, but even with ql150 light armor, it won't save a lvl 30 mage, lol.

Light armor is a joke, its just spots to get stat bonuses, not to protect you.

Yes but the thing is, it gives you stat bonuses without penalty.

I stayed to forager 57 on newbie island. I enjoyed the friends there, and I was busying learning the material node locations, and crafting systems. I gained a decent amount of cash and learned the leaving before Magic AND melee are OVER 30 is just a study in frustration.

Your mainland experience will be MUCH more enjoyable if you stay until you will SCREAM if you see another Kipee (but know this, Kipee will be the mainstay of mob spawns LONG after level 100).

I have seen SO Many neophytes, hit the mainland with a "I don't DO crafting" attitude, saw them three days later twitching and moaning foraging and crafting. *sadistic snicker*

The Mainland is like the difference between kindgergarten and GRADUATE school, Personally I think the difference is like being thrust into ICE WATER in January in Alaska. They need to work on the difficulty transitions and mob difficulties, to make them more intuitive.

What they really need is more super-low-level critters on the mainland for those of us stupid enough to leave too soon (I left at level 17 in magic, 16 in fight). Far less than on noob island, but I don’t see how it could hurt to have a few around the towns. Or maybe a way to get back to noob island if you are under level 30. :-)

Transition my arse. On main, you can harvest IN town up to level 50 if you so choose. Granted it's just one crappy mat, but it's xp and cash.

They don't have puny goari or kipee in zorai, nor matis I think. Ragus are tougher too, but you can make a good amount of cash and spend a good time killing capryni, bodocs izam or whatever you like the same as noobland. Not only that, you have almost NO DP at that point, so exploring is just fine good fun. Gives you something to look forward to. If I didn't think some people NEED noob island I'd make a char and offer Q20-60k excellent 2h max damage swords on noob island and drag half of them over to the mainland.

The choice is yours, do you like to muffins or swords?

There are packs of suckling yubos and other very low level mobs just outside all mainland starting cities. You CAN'T miss them. Mobs in these small herds respawn almost immediately -- you can safely spam-kill these herds of mobs till you're of a proper level for the mainland. The idea that the mainland is too hard if you go there too early is just plain false :P

q200 LA with HP stats would be awesome for a lvl 30 mage on newbie... he would be GOD,

X concidering that each weight of armor protects the same ammount...I doubt that the Q level of light armor would make THAT much difference, sure the baby mage could get a few extra sap or HP or both, but...so could any other player.
