More confusion with fame

Post by raynes »

As I have been getting more and more tribes listed in my fame window, I have noticed that when I do Kami fame missions more fame is awarded to me in several groups. First it started out with getting Kami and Icon Worshipper. Then when I got other tribes with a Kami ambassador, they were also adwarded fame when I completed Kami missions. Before last night the following would happen when I completed a Kami fame mission:
+Kami
-Karavan
+Icon Worshippers
+Hamazans of the Dead Seed
+Tutors
+Company of the Eternal Tree

I thought this indicated that when doing Kami fame missions all Kami tribes would be awarded fame. Of course there was one exception, that being the Shadow Runners. Even the Kami in their camp doesn't award Kami fame. I figured it was a fluke. Well I started to go after fame from tribes in the Burning Desert last night and something happened to make things even stranger. When I got the Leviers listed (who started out at -16) they were also added to the list of tribes Kami missions give fame for. I then found a Kami tribe called the Water Breakers. Guess what? They aren't awarded fame when a Kami mission is done.

So can anyone shed some light what is going on? Why do some Kami based tribes get awarded fame when do tasks for the Kami, while others don't?

This same thing happens with karavan missions, just as a heads up.

Personally I believe that the fame structure of all the various factions isn't as simple as one would think.

a)There is a limit to how much fame 1 faction will award/deduct from their related fames. Example-After reaching a certain karavan/matis personal fame level (50-60 i think) green seed missions (whether from the karavan ambassador or tribe welcomer) no longer boosted these fames. Likewise when my kami personal fame had hit -50, it no longer lowered that fame either. This would be an indicator that they have in different levels of 'popularity' between various groups.

b)There are tribes out there that will boost more fames than they detract from. A number of which decrease no fames, examples:Siblings of the weed, Matisian Border Guard, and Hamazans of the Dead Seed, Night Turners, Pyromancers.

c)There are some tribes that will detract from many more fames than they award. Cholorogoos only give cholorogoo fame, but lower kami, tryker, matis, zorai, and fyros. Cockroaches are the similair from what I've heard.

d)While they have, in recent times, been pushing a kami vs karavan conflict with events, they have also been pushing towards unity (pyr event) against the kitin.

b and c would indicate that it is possible for one to follow a middle ground working towards unity, which d had indicated. Obviously it would be a simple thing for everyone just to band together and keel the eevils, or just go and war against each other (as pvp is getting implimented). But they are having contrast, which leads me to believe that the differences in which side (kami/karavan) boosts which fame is intended.

We may not see the benefits for pursuing a path of fame currently, but they have an 8 year plan for the story. So I'm guessing there will be some benefit ;)

yes there's a limit to how much associated fame you can gain from a tribe

i will use me as an example

i used to do a certain set of missions each day

yrk karavan, town welcomer, gs welcomer and gs karavan

when i started out i got fame this way

yrk karavan gave out matis, karavan and tryker fame
town welcomer - matis only
gs welcomer - gs and matis
gs karavan - karavan, matis, gs and tryker

once i hit 50 person tryker fame karavan stopped giving personal tryker fame

once i hit 70 personal matis fame everyone but matis stopped giving matis fame, not sure on the exact but i'm guessing it was at 70 or there abouts because i noticed it one night when doing a mission

so there's definately a limit to the amount of fame or infamy you can gain with a tribe/civ and their allies thru doing a mission for a tribe/civ.

tho i will say once you get to a certain lvl it's hard to figure out what tribe gives out what specific ally fame because it stops at a certain lvl. maybe saying a "this action is too easy and you don't gain fame with this tribe" message just so we know what fame is given out.

Are there any primers out there for fame?

I want to understand more about it but would like to see something that starts with the basics before i try to sort out all this stuff...........

I do not believe so. It's far too intricate, and rather tedious to test. However, a good thought to keep in mind for the beginning fame runs:

1) The races that a tribe consists of will generally recieve fame when doing missions for that tribe (unless otherwise noted earlier in this thread).

2) Either the Kami or the Karavan will be present in the tribes little village, you will gain either Kami or Karavan fame depending on which is there. (Again, unless otherwise noted above).

Other than these two basic principles, it would take probably one person per tribe (ie: each person only does/has fame for a SINGLE tribe) on the ATS doing missions forever and ever then compiling all the data for us to get much more information. Even then, we'd have to have one person per race per tribe, and..

well you get the idea. :D Stick to the two basic principles and you should be okay.

What are your questions? There are some of us who work on fame as our primary activity and might be able to give you some answers.
