This is going to be a short, quick help only, you can find more help in the Beginner's Guide section in the forums.

To craft, you need raw materials. There are three sources of raw materials:
- buy it in a shop from Raw Material Merchant
- harvest the materials yourself
- kill animals and quarter them for materials.

To make a pair of Wiva Boots, you need to fill 4 slots, using a total of 6 materials:
2 Cloth
2 Lining
1 Stuffing
1 Armor Clip

The following shows you what material you can use to fill each of these slots:
Cloth: Fiber or Skin
Lining: Resin or Tooth
Stuffing: Oil or Secretion
Armor Clip: Sap or Tail
The first of these are the ones you can buy from the shop or can get via harvesting. The second of these are the ones you can get by killing animals.

The raw materials have a quality level (usually denoted ql). When you craft, the quality of the resulting item is going to be equal to the lowest quality material you have used. For example, if you use ql 4 fibers, ql 3 resins, ql 5 sap and ql 4 oil, your item will be ql 3, the lowest of any material used. Therefore to make your boots, make sure you use materials all of which are at least quality level 5.

Sometimes when you craft, the resulting item can get degraded, and you may not end up with the desired quality level. In that case, just sell or throw away the failed item, and craft again.

Finally, to actually craft, equip your crafting tool, click your crafting action, select the plan (in this case Boots), fill in the slots and click the Craft Item button.

I hope this helped.

Wiva boots plan comes with the craft pack, its the light boots. You will need to go forage mats, i.e. fibre, resin, oil and sap to make them.

(Apologies if this post sounds a bit patronising, but I'm assuming you are a *total* newbie and know absolutely nothing about how the game works ;) I may be wrong, but I'm playing safe)

Since I'm not Matis, I may be wrong here, but I assume that Wiva Boots are the basic light boots that you will get the "crafting plan" (what you use to decide what you craft) for with the crafting start pack. To get more crafting plans, you need to go to the craft trainer when you have enough skill points to purchase another plan :)

In your hands bar, click on the crafting skill, and then at the top of the window that pops up, select "light boots" or whatever it says, then it will show you what kind of materials you need to craft them. (should be something like; 2 clothes mats, 2 lining mats, 1 stuffing and 1 armour clip or something like that... either way you then need to go kill/harvest/buy the materials needed and then when you get to the crafting window, just select which ones you want to use and click Craft. Hey presto you should hopefully have a pair of boots :)

The quality you craft is determined by the lowest Q of mats you use to craft and also your crafting skill. For some (hopefully) helpful player guides, go to this part of the forum: Player-made Guides

Also, this website should coe in handy to find out what you need to craft anything, and what materials are the best for each thing :) This page inparticular should be immediately useful for you ;) Its the mats list for Matis Light Boots

1. Open your actions/skills window (press A)
2. In the left-hand list, click on Craft
3. In the right-hand list, find (Matis?) Armour Crafting 1
4. Drag the icon for Armour Crafting 1 to an empty slot on your hands bar (press S to toggle the hands bar on/off)
5. Close the Action window
6. Equip your craft tool
7. Click the crafting action in the hands bar/press the number key that relates to it

Hey presto :)

EDIT: heh, not so much of a newb eh? You beat me to it! Enjoy the crafting :)

Well made my first item...but I had to use generic raw materials for clothes and lining.....the only things I could get were Oil and Sap from those green rocks.

Any care to explain how I would get Fiber and Resin?

Cheers.

Fiber and Resin can be tricky to find - AFAIK, they are generally not close to towns, but out in the middle of nowhere (makes harvesting an exploring excersise, which can be good or bad - depending on where you're exploring!).

It might be worth beating up some mobs instead, and seeing if you can get the animal equivalent for the materials you're missing. I believe taking out Suckling Yubo and Fledgling Izam will yield the mats you need, tho with such low-level mobs, I think the drop amounts are quite low.

Experimentation time my friend :) Best of luck!

*Shakes new person by the hand*

Welcome friend.

1. dig some more of those green rocks (known in the trade as 'Sources')

2. when you have dug enough you will gain levels in harvest (flash of white light, commonly followed by the need to type DING in the chat window.)

3. after 3 or 4 DING's

4. visit the traininer (they may be inside) so check the doors, your looking for the HARVESTER trainer.

5. buy PROSPECTING.

6. this will appear on your hands bar after purchase.

7. go outside and use this skill around the town.

8. It will allow you to make your own green stones.

basically from this moment on you are an independant harvester :D

you can explore the lands and look for the hidden sources and use your prospect to find them.

hope this helps

experimentation is the secret to this game.... try it .. if it works, great, if not try something esle.

Also ......

In the chat window type

/who

a list of names will appear if anyone else in on the island.

they will more than likely be in the same boat as you ... but learning together is much more fun than learning alone.

Good Luck.
