"Time in game: 32h 2min 51sec" Wha?

Post by tinpony »

Considering I can't even log in, I find this a little odd. I'm not getting the usual "user is online and has been disconnected" notice that I used to get when I could log in and had a crash.

I did actually log in a fair portion today (certainly not 32 hours straight) and now am completely unable to get even so far as the character selection screen.

On one of the rare times I got a crash screen I got:

- - - -

A fatal error occurs. The program must quit
ProcName: client_ryzom_rd.exe

I'm also getting *constant* checksums do not correspond errors which casuse a releaunch which promptly crashes.

Any ideas now?

ryzom recover yet? in the file directory of Ryzom, you can launch this... it solves a lot of problems...

Ryzom recover is actually the source of a fair number of problems.

Running it produces the 'checksums do not correspond' errors which crash the game. :(

you are not suppose to run RECOVER while you have the game on... close the game... then run it...

Er, since I can't actually connect to the game nor log in, I haven't actually been *in game* to run the program. :)

Hi!
Try repatching first. To do this rename or delete the "unpack" folder in your Ryzom install path, the client will begin a total repatch at next login. Also try patching with your anti-vir turned off, makes patching a whole lot easier (and it's most likely the cause for your checksum errors)- first make sure that your system is clean, of course ;)

Hi everyone, thanks for all your suggestions. I appreocaite them all.

Here's what I have/tried...

-I use ZoneAlarm. I turned it off. No difference.
-I use the Windows firewall. I turned that off. No difference.
-I used to use Norton anti-virus, but since I reformatted my HDD, I haven't reinstalled it yet. Been using the more passive micro-trend and MacAfee virus checkers that activate only when I chose them, not automatically. So, nothing there. Either before or after reinstall.
-I have reformatted the HDD (got sick of the clutter). No change, same error messages.
-I tried reinstalling both prior and (obviously) post HDD reformat. Nasty, nasty patching to be done (over 2Gb). All that happened is that I got stuck in a patch loop and could not escape it. Multiple repatches of the same files.

What eventually 'worked' is that I got a copy of the 'unpack' directory and the recent (patch 27) changed files from the 'data' directory from a friend. I also got him to copy and send me the main directory with the ryzom_config and client_ryzom and all the *.dll files.

On occasion, I can access by deleting those files and copying over the files from his version.

Ryzom_recover does *not* work for me. It produces 'checksums do not correspond' errors in the 'unpack' directory files which inevitably leads to a crash. I avoid it at all costs.

I also get a lot of errors for "File: R:\CODE\NEL\INCLUDE\nel/georges/load_form.h" which is not my drive. Does this reflect the server-side files? This file is one that occurs almost constantly as an error.

Thanks again for the help,
Tin.
