I have been reading post after post on the upcoming changes to pvp.
At first I was mad, just plain mad. You know the routine, why the *&$^**& are they doing this I said, even posted I'm leaving. Well I ain't leaving and now I ain't mad.
This may be as different as apples and oranges but I'm going to make the comparison anyway. Last year Nextel Bought the Winston Cup and made it the Nextel Cup. Well how dare they change the name of the winston cup! And if that wasn't enough they then completely changed the championship format!!
The word among my circle of friends was, well that will be the end of Nascar. There was alot more choice words but I can't repeat them in open forum.
We couldn't have been more wrong. I look back over the season and have to say that it was some of the best racing that ever came out of nascar, it was competitive to the end and even though that little snot won I thoroughly enjoyed the entire season.
So now i say let the chips fall. If you love to game as I do then you too will try it, comment on it while the devs tweak, and we will have loads of fun.

If they change the game to the point that enjoyment is totally impossible...I will have to leave.
I am NOT playing this game for competition. Everything I ever needed to prove I already have proven, to the ONLY people that I had to prove them to. I found the right man, married him, had TWO wonderful kids, had the guts to travel to foreign countries that you need a passport for before my 15th birthday, with a group of people from my school that I had JUST met the week before...with my mother safely back in the states, sang in front of a crowd and didn't BARF or forget the words and actually hit ALL the right notes.
I don't NEED to have competition to get from day to day. For ME competition ADDS stress to my life...stress that I don't want or need.
For me...cooperation is my cup of tea. When I see a player go from beating his/her head against a brick wall of frustration to ENJOYING the game...due to a few hints that I and a few other helpful souls gave them, well that makes my DAY.
To use your racing analogy...picture that those same people took over your beloved sport...and made you pay DOUBLE for everything, including parking...which is moved across a BUSY interstate...The hot dogs taste like PASTE. They made EVERYONE paint the cars the exact same colors and took ALL the sponsor stickers away or made them ALL black and white and about two inches TALL. They made ALL your stars cut their hair the same, talk the same and drive 20 MPH. OH and all the cool souveniers are BARBIE PINK. OH and tailgating picnics are STRICTLY forbidden, 2 thousand dollar fine for EACH violation.
Not a very enjoyable experience at the track anymore is it?
To me that is what OPEN FREE non consentual PVP without any consequences IS. That or it is like being told that ANY person that I see can rape me as many times a day as they want and nothing will happen to them...and I have to enjoy it...and PAY for the exposure to this abuse.
I don't MIND that you enjoy Nascar...I don't like Nascar...and this works out GREAT for us both. You get to go and LOVE it all, and I get to stay away and enjoy MY thing.
That is why I enjoy the idea of the OFF ON toggle, Arenas, PLANNED wars agreed to by ALL parties or their guild leaders before the blood bath starts, a seperate PVP NO rules mosh pit...I mean server, maybe a PVP server with various different rule sets. With ANY of my suggestions, people can enjoy their thang, and not FORCE others to enjoy what they find REPUGNANT, annoying or just aint their thang.
FYI I get migraines, and Nascar would SURELY trigger one, if not the sound levels...then the gas fumes would SURELY do it, and add to that all the BRIGHT flashing colors of those sponsor stickers and I would be curled in a ball under the stands begging to be shot. It isn't a class thing, just a situational thing that actually HURTS me. (oddly enough, when I was a little kid, I enjoyed going with my older sister to stock car races by semi professionals. Didn't get migraines then *shrug*)
I like music, and SOME of my music genres that I enjoy listening to from time to time (like classical or the avante garde that I enjoy playing more than hearing...just for the personal challenge of getting it right...even if it sounds horrid enough to make the dog howl) would likely make you run for cover.
Different strokes for different folks. That is why PVP servers work so well in games mostly made up of players that are split down the middle on GOTTA have it or "put it in and I am SO OUTTIE". EVERYONE wins when everyone gets choice.
In my opinion CHOICE is what makes America SO wonderful...because CHOICE and freedom go hand in hand for me.
Will I give them the benefit of the doubt and hang around a while. Yeah, I went 90 levels in Horizons before the lag and HORRID coding issues that are STILL being fixed THIS long after release got to the point that enjoyment was just NOT possible.
If I can hang in NINE months with Horizons...I can take till June with this one, especially since I like the VAST majority of this game WORLDS better than Horizons.
BUT...if the enjoyablity drops below tolleration...I will cancel the account and watch the forums for signs of hope.
