Well then... SPOINK you all.

And back to topic... I am all for Matis being all PvP... Also, what does it matter how long I have been on Mainland... I bet I am pretty damn high in level right now and going faster and faster everyday... this game is really really easy to lvl in... I hope to see you trosky in a PvP area :) Oh what name do you go by in game? I did share with you mine... I mean I am not sacred... unlike yourself...

Problem is , no matter how high you are, there will always be someone higher, someone with more time to waste or more effective powerlevelling techniques. What our carebear friends here are complaining about is that they are forced to be PvPable in the area that they spend most of their time in.
PR is dangerous enough as it is, and L337 bloodthirsty kids prowling in there will make harvesting nearly impossible for the most skilled of sneaky harvesters.
I only agree with this PR PvP as long as people are mature about it.

While we are at it, i propose we form a squad of lvl 150+ players to hunt trigger happy PKers in the PR, to protect the innocent harvesters.
This would be really contradictory, as we are PKing ourselves, but hey, call it "high lvl content" :D
Am i supposed to write something witty here ?

I like your statement.

RPKing is something I do not endure either. Only thing is, if we are RIVALs in anything, you should be open bait anywhere we are, maybe except a city...
In response to the ignorant players out there:

I have more heart than anyone would know :) I will let you in on a little secret... I am doing this for my newborn daughter... no one else... I like that game, but I do not have the time anymore. My first priority is to my daughter. End of story.

TO be "real" in a sense... you can be killed anywhere.... i mean isnt that why we cant access the Packer from other cities any longer? TO be more "realistic" . For all we know, that could be a secret technique that the Kami gave us so we can get stuff from our pets from far away... or a Karavan device that teleports items in and out of packers/bags....

With time comes experience, with experience knowledge, with knowledge comes an understanding of the game, with understanding comes the ability to see the cracks in the edges of the foundation and where driving spikes is a bad thing to do. Many of the folks that you are arguing with have been 200-250 multiple times over and had a deep understanding of the game before the first box even touched a shelf.

To be 'real' in that sense, you would also have to have a permanent form of punishment (aka prison/fines/forced service/character deletion/account banning) for those bent on making killing a avidly pursued hobby.

But there is no huge 'downside' for rpk. Only upsides. It gives excitement, if they add looting rights, it gives incentive. It gives bragging rights.

And there are only downsides to those who are rpk'ed. Losing time spent (there are people who can only play for, at best, an hour or two a night) and spending 10-15 minutes navigating aggro mobs to get to a good spot, harvesting craft grind mats for 30-45 minutes til it turns supreme, only to be ganked by someone fufilling their rpk quota of the night before they can finish their first extraction, is a big let-down, and will completely ruin their evening, and enjoyment of the game. Add in looting rights, and now ALL their evening was a complete waste because of 1 persons actions. Akin to working hard, getting paid in cash, then getting mugged on the way home, and knowing it'll happen again the next day, since it's the cops that are doing it. (Movie style scenario, humor me on it. Just trying to give an example where there is nothing you can practically do about the situation beyond quiting the game/job).

Some people like to play games that allow them to relax, enjoy themselves. Getting jumped and wasting a bunch of time because some pvp-centric player likes running around killing people is not their idea of relaxing. Which, I'd imagine, a large portion of the games populace isn't too keen on being targets in their time after work. Maybe I'm wrong...but signs(and people) tell me I'm correct in this assumption.
Poker of things, caster of sparklies, maker of stuff, digger of dirt, wanderer of paths....
Oh yea, and Princess~

Nevrax anounced from the start that the game wasnt going to be free for all PvP, theres already enough game like that and if thats what you are looking for you should look at Lineage 2 or Shadowbane.

Im in favor of PvP but id like to have immunity, ive played open PvP games before and Ryzom seemed to offer all I like in PvP without the bad sides. In fact i love open PvP except when I get killed when foraging, resting, afk or crafting and loosing items and exp without being able to defend myself. Thats why i want immunity.

Im in to go "ganker bashing" anytime if they dont give us PvP immunity. Lets make sure the gankers are not welcome on Atys.

For good reason too. Every game needs a villian.
We already have our villain for me some are called pro-Kami and other are called Kittins, for others im a villain.

(sarcasm on)
well living on the edge or reailty

A single shot even from a pistol can critically wound or kill
Same with any range weapon

swords, axes and the like can chop off limbs, critically wound or kill in 1 swing
hammers / mace type weapons can break bones, crush skulls, etc

magic can incenerate, obliterate, fry or even heal wounds

well wait magic don't exist in real life, but alchemy does, we have chemicals, so compare chemicals to magic

so if there making the game more realistic, why not increase the damage on ranged weapons, increase the range, even a 9mm pistol can have a bullet fly for a mile, i am horrible in math but isn't a mile longer than 32 meters?

how about only doing 32 damage when you have 1200 hp, a bullet should do up to 1200 damage

makes sense to me

Ok, first of all, for all you people who insist on repeatedly drawing parallels with the real world in comparison with a virtual world whenever you come across a difference in opinion... It's a game, they don't compare. Please stop trying to belittle others with this pointless rubbish. So many of you continue with attempts to call on realism to support your arguments, it just doesn't work, give it up already... please. IT IS NOT REAL.

*Aaaaaah much better* (takes a deep breath)

Now, regardless of the opinions of so many others who wish to continue as things are and slam any possible changes before they barely reach a testing phase... I'd rather hold out and see for myself on the test server how these new features are supposed to work, what the possibilities are.

Every time something in the game changes, regardless of whatever it is, there's always 10 pages of rubbish to follow on the forums. This time there hasn't even been anything implemented and there's already a tonne of different threads all filled with the same people reiterating the same things they have said in 20 other posts already.

Give it a rest, ok?
