on a side note, stay on newbie land until you get one of your skills to around 50, its alot easier to make money from mats to the vendors on newbie lands than it is on mainland, atleast vendor pricing

as to is there a wonder mat?

not available on the npc's anymore that i am aware of, in closed beta that is all i used, wondermats were the bomb

trust me if you can't handle newbie island, you won't make it in the mainlands

all i dealt with on the newbie islands were up to choice mats, and the npc's will actually tell you where to go to find some if you do quests

I left the newbie islands when I hit level 20 in a couple of areas, and I don't regret it. Near town on the ML are mobs you can kill easily and get decent exp as a level 20'ish melee char. The choice of equipment in town is much much better, and makes a huge difference. To those who say stay in newbie area till level 50 - I've been playing more than a month and just made 50 yesterday in harvesting. I've had a lot of fun grouping lately and fighting level 65 mobs. I managed even to solo vigilant kizoar without too much trouble. All this is with vendor sold equipment crafted by other players, all around qual 50, including medium armor. The cost was quite affordable, BTW. I can't imagine how incredibly bored I'd be if I were still on newbie island; I'm sure I would have quit long ago.

Just a slightly different perspective. I would try to bring about 30K dapper with you if you can; that will buy a very decent qual 40-50 weapon, and several decent qual 40-50 armor pieces. I think perhaps that would be more important initially than what level you've reached in melee.

The problem being I dont want to go to the mainland yet... I want to learn more about building weapons on newbie island. I wont beable to get the harvestable materials on ML right away so I wont be making any money, and know how to build 2H wepons will be more usefull if I know how to build them before I bring my character to the ML.

The point of this being. Im still looking for certain materials on refugee island, and am having problems finding them. Finally finding Ante Fiber, well at least we know that is on the island, but when one GM says not all materials are on the island and one says they are, and one get sarcastic. I come to the ppl who play the game and ask them for help.

And I have recieved some good helpful information. Yet I still dont know if all the building materials ar the same on all the island. It would kind of be unfair if Trykers got all the Oath bark and the Zorai dont get that kind of bark..

see my point?

I see your point but I don't know if I agree with it. Why would you not be able to get "harvestable materials" right away on the mainland? As a level 20 harvester when I came to the ML I found it easier to harvest in the ML than I did in the starter area. I am Fyros, don't know if that matters.

Sorry I don't see your point.

What you are missing is that you will be able to find and harvest all types of mats on the mainland. If there is a resource you can't find in the ground, and you just want to experiment with 2hd weapons plans, you will be able to find plentiful samples of that mat on vendors. Most areas of Cities of Intuition are free of agro and safe for young harvesters, and there are reasonably safe areas in adjoining zones where you can get up to 200ql mats. On the mainland people can show you spots to harvest, but since they can't come back to the isle you will only get vague hints from experienced harvesters if you stay where you are.

There is no point in harvesting on the isle past level 20 due to the level 20 cap on mats. At that point you can harvest q30 mats on the mainland for 50% more experience. At skill 30 you will make twice the experience in the same time on the mainland.

If you just want to solve the puzzle of finding every type of mat on the isle, then you are welcome to stay. You should keep in mind that mats come and go based on the seasons, weather, Jena's mood, and the angle of the rings on that big ball in the sky. Do you want to stick around to check and recheck every inch of the isle in every season and every weather condition? If you miss a spot during one season are you willing to wait a year to recheck when that season rolls around again?

Join us on the mainland Ariwen, where men are men, women are women, everyone is blue and wears a mask, and the ragus have big sharp teeth. You won't regret it.

On the mainland there are lots of safe choice mats right nearby. Even some sources popping up in town with choice mats. And usually crafters literally give away weapons under quality 50.

One thing you can do on the newbie island is make a lot of money, because there's major inflation on the mainland.

I agree with most of the posters. I'd focus more on my skills and getting money, than worrying about specific choice mats. Nothing wrong with looking for them, but I'd focus more on getting your harvest skill to level 20 or so and working up your crafting to where you can make some Q20 stuff that you plan to work on in the future.

As long as you have dapper, you can get pretty much anything you want on the mainland to help make the transition. I admit, I had a choice 2H pike I made before I left the mainland with top damage, but people were making Q50 stuff or higher when I got there.

Yes, there is everything you need to make good damage equipment. I've only played as Zorai, but haven't been playing long. Let me think. I seem to recall having found the oath bark on the east side of the island somewhere between the northeast and southeast town. Choice qaulity 20. The Big shell is located near the central town (Sheng-Wo I think it's called).

In fact I think I saw you in-game a few times. If I bump into you again I can try and show you some of the harvest spots I've found.

The point is that yes the stuff is available. You just have to search for it.

i didnt even bother staying on the newb island with my harvester/crafter and struck the mianland at lvl 1 and it has been fast lvling ever sence. There are plenty of mats nearby that are in non-harmful areas and i perfer not being a hermit on the island. Also coming to the mainland can get you in a guild which will help you alot to lvl faster.
