There are some errors in that review.
For example, he does know that you can right click on the various chat tabs and get a separate window for Regional chat, etc if you prefer that. He also did not know about the "conning" system. Maybe he needs to read my Quick Tips in this thread:
http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7155
Overall, I would not call his review as accurate, fair, etc as many claim. Most of his complaints have already been patched, I know I checked them. Also his unfamiliarity with the interface and general tendency to see an MMORPG as having to do it the tried and true and dull way, really does show through, if you go beyond the poetic lament in his words.
Basically, burnout syndrome and he is a creature of habit. It's also unclear if he ever really got off the Newbie Islands for long.
The problem with this game is that it really takes at least 4 days to really see that it isn't as simple as you first think or as hard an interface as you think. It's just different. After a while you see that the game has depth, lots of it. You also will see that the interface is straightforward but very powerful and easy to customize, perhaps more than any UI ever. But that is not obvious at first, because everything is done differently than you might think.
Harvesting alone will probably confuse most people for a while, it's just a very sophisticated sort of mining.
Anyway, whatever. The review is definitely over-rated, although it's not either negative or positive, it's just inaccurate and limited. It's long, but it's really more about his feelings, his expectations, his mindset, and predictably about his inability to adjust or understand.

Unregistered wrote:*sigh*.... i congratulate you .
Your post is among one of the last few fanbois posts im gonna read. Im finally becoming sick of reading this drivel and nonesense. PLease if you wanna bash the review then dont don the knight in shining armour semi-analysying it.
You say the features are fixed. Please copy his review into this chat and then under every point show us what is fixed. Saying that most of them have been fixed doesn't lend well.
Please not for my sake cause im finally becoming disillusioned with this game and the 'wonderful' community.
If ryzom was bankrupt and the server wasn't online im sure someone would still defend it.
Its amasing, please tell me which review of Ryzom is the best one to read?. All of them leave out alot of points this Avault one picks up on many, doesn't get them all but gets the fair points and turn offs.
But the Main emphasis of the entire review is one singular argument. While trounching his review you failed to mention the all killing problem.
All the other problems DONT matter.
Content.... Where is it?, When will it come?, When will players stock beta testing and actually play the release?.
This guys review sounds hard in my heart, i know exactly what he means i as well tried so valiantly to love the game but without content for 9 months and now a further 2 months of contentless release.... thats a bad average. It would be nice if every week with your new patch you got perhaps a couple of quests to do... but you dont. You get events but events dont make the game only if an event was going on ALL the time 24/7 would it help.
Im finally not gonna bother coming back here. thanks. You finally made me realised that no matter what theres always gonna be someone here defending or over-hyping ryzom.
Can you honestly say you can play this game for 6 more months without Content?.
This is what kills the game for people.... NOT the bugs. WoW has many bugs but has content so nobody mentions the bugs at all. They dont matter. But when you have nothing to do but fight groups of mobs over and over and over again... continually camping them over and over again with no real purpose or goal other than lvling up then the bugs and the little things matter.
Good luck and farewell.
well if you keep your word and stop coming here (i bet you come back)you wont see this message, but i just wanna say why cant you understand that there are ppl who love playing this game, and leave it alone already if u stop posting then you wont see them defending the game they like. ppl playing this game aren't mindless sheep, we dont need to go where everyone else is going, if you cant except that than thats your problem not ours, i will play this game as long as it lasts, you wont change my mind or anyone elses, so why do u even bother tryin. ppl who dont like this game waste their lives here saying how much they dislike this game, i think its time for these ppl to move on and play something they like, i mean damn its just a game not real life so who cares who plays what.

From the Review :
"The Saga of Ryzom has the most convoluted, unintuitive learning curve Ive seen since pre-Luclin era EverQuest."
Im really amazed to read that. I started playing in the beta, i never read the manual and i've got used to the interface really fast. The last mmorpg I played (not tested) was FFXI and the learning curve is way longer in FFXI then in Ryzom.
Very poor review, but anyway reviews are always biased by the reviewers experience and taste.
