Its really to bad, I'm a big fan of Bjørn Arve Lagim, the guy who did the score, and the intro is pretty good, but I get all this crackling. I don't have the problem in any other applications. Setup to follow:
WinME w/directx 9.0c
Athlon 2100 @ 2600 speeds
2 x 256 MB 3200 DDR
Epox 8RDA+ Mobo
GeForce 4 Ti4200
WD 120 GB HDD w/8 MB cache
Sound breaks up when logging in
Re: Sound breaks up when logging in
I have this same issue.
It sometimes happens in games when I they have mp3 files requiring decompression on them and the hard drive is otherwise working, which is very common. It's a crackling, stuttering , interruption and occasional repeating, for a few moments during loading.
I think it happens with some sorts of mp3 decompression software on VIA chipsets and/or with Soundblaster cards etc. But that's just a theory of mine. But it isn't just this game. It's common with mp3 decompression during other cpu etc activity and may be only during hard drive read/writes, but i'm not sure. There used to be talk of the bus becoming overloaded by either and not released well by the other peripherals using it, like the sound card or graphics card, but don't see how graphics is the issue here.
Anyway, hope they can figure it out, only because I see potential problems in game with those that want the music on if they make in game music later. They had better allow the music to be off in-game.
