How long does a season last in real life time?

Post by zandrox »

Hi there. I've been playing for just about two weeks now, just waiting for my trial to roll into a full account. I've been working promarily foraging and crafting. Doing some exploring last night I came across a large area (several island in Tryker) that had no resources this season. WHile I think having resource spawns change based on season or weather is a great idea, not knowing the current season or when I can expect it to change is a bit frustrating. I marked tha areas in my notes so I can go back and check them. However I dont know a good time to do so. Can some one shed some light on this area for me?

Someone once said they timed it to be 4 days a season.

I'd have guessed closer to 4 real life days per year.

I have a character in Tryker newbie land right now, and I've noticed that a particular species of glowing seeweed gets seed pods about every three or four days. I can't be sure of course, but I'd guess that that would coresponde to one year. Without a calendar it's hard to be sure.

4 days a season sounds roughly correct to me. It's pretty hard to miss in Verdant Heights.

Do seasons possibly vary in length? Maybe not every season is the same length, or maybe different years have different cycles. Or maybe our path around our suns varies from year to year.

Is a year defined by 1 trip around our sun? BTW do we only have 1 solar body or multiple? Has anyone noticed.

P.S. Where are my crafted Sun glasses?

In the jungle there are indeed four seasons. So far it seems pretty constant that there are 4 days to a season, 16 days to a year. I haven't noticed any variation in their length.

As for the year, it's really hard to say what defines a year. First off it does appear here is only one sun in the sky. But there is also a huge gas giant very close by also (which makes me think Atys is really a moon). So it is possible that there is more than one sun, we just never see it. Above all of that someone once suggested that the tree that makes up the planet is making it's own weather cycles. If that is the case then seasons do not represent a full year.

My observation is that we actually have a transparant? gas giant with debris.

There is one! solar body which is actually quite remarkable. During the day it is bright red and big. At night it is the same! body just blue and small. The changes occur during dusk and dawn. How that is physically possible to change from a yellow sun to a blue star is inconceivable.

Makes me feel like we're in a virtual world :-) But then again Rhizome in the astronomical sense means an anomaly...

I want some lore!
