constant freezes after patch 25, or is Dew Drops the culprit? Help?

Post by yy48n19 »

I don't know what is going on. Downloaded patch 25 last night, played for hours without a problem. Log in this morning, go to Dew Drops, run around with this guy for five minutes and everything suddenly freezes up. I come back several hours later, log in, beat up some stuff in Dew Drops, freeze. Cold boot. Log back in, beat up some more stuff in Dew Drops, freeze.

Does anyone know what is happening? Is Dew Drops notorious for this kind of thing? Or could it be something with patch 25? Like I said, I didn't have any of these problems last night after downloading the patch. This is really aggravating.

try updating your video card drivers and sound card drivers while your at it

if you're using an older ati card, then open the ryzom config (the one outsite the game) and set the graphics library to opengl instead of auto or direct3d

if nvidia then make sure it's set to opengl

hopefully that helps but yes i've noticed that tryker land is really laggy

Thanks for the reply. Video drivers are updated, don't know about sound; may look into that, but I doubt that is the critical problem. I am running an ATI card in OpenGL, have been since I started playing.

I am beginning to think it has something to do with the high density of mobs around that area. Really, my computer is sub-system req's, so I am probably pushing it too hard. I do have 512MB RAM, but some of that is being eaten by the integrated video card--this is a laptop.

I like Ryzom a lot, but have been frustrated with the lag and choppiness, and now with these freezes when I go exploring, trying to leave Liberty Lakes, my future in Ryzom ain't lookin' too bright.

@mellodi

Well I can't comment on your system. Of course more RAM and better Graphics would probably be good, but this is quite selfexplanatory. ;)
Playing a Tryker myself, though I know what you are talking about.

It seems to me that there are specific crashzones in Trykerland, where you will keep crahsing over and over (try eg. the small island directly north of Fairhaven, stand near this strange serpentine root on the westside of its north shore, look in the northern direction and move around. I always crash there. I never crashed in dew drops though, so prehaps these crashzones are system specific).

If you are in crashzone, get carefully out of it (go backwards or teleport yourself away) and avoid it in the future.

This happens only in Trykerland. In all other areas the game runs pretty stable for me.

Thanks, Ranna. After moving out of that area, I'm inclined to agree with you. No more crashes.

It's just a shame that there are areas like that. Sounds like a job for patch 26!! :p
