user commands that would really help.....

Post by lootking »

ok, loving the game, thinking of things that would make it better......

you should be able to, with assigned hotkeys, pick 'closest player' 'next player' 'previous player', 'closest monster' 'next monster' 'previous monster'.

you should be able to click on a dot on the compass, and have it tell you what it is, and also, the default window that shows the range your compass is set to, should be used to show distance from presently selected item.

implimenting these two ideas would make gameplay alot more fun, and way less frustrating imo

Would also be nice to:

1) be able to bind emotes to keys
2) be able to lower the camera's axis of rotation (ie you can't take a screenshot of your character's face from a normal angle)
3) be able to set the chatbox up to be split into sections (a la City of Heroes)
4) be able to resize windows like the player hp/sap/sta/focus and the color monster radar (playing at a higher resolution might also increase viewable area, tho I dunno if my PC can take it)
5) be able to toggle street names in the map - at certain zoom levels the city is completely obscured
6) add a lookspring toggle with programmable default
7) add a "return to preset vertical angle" key
8) add an additional zoom level on the map to allow for more precise resource location via comments

That's all I can think of right now.

How about ( unless it is there hiding from me) a hotkey for follow your target.
If everyone is running it is hard to right click and get the dropdown for follow.

you guys should check out the macro's
I find them a bit clumsy, but then i want to remap my key board and am to busy playing. I have not experimented with alot of macros but I do find them of some use.
And yea, a way to quickly target team players is very important, in the macros you can target people but it seems you need a macro for each person, this does not seem practicable when you have a team of 9.
If anyone has something better please enlighten me.

Team player I can't speak for, but the closet mob or resource spot you're facing can be selected with space bar. I use it all the time.

For party members I usually just use the party window. You shouldn't be trying to click on the players avatar on screen anyway, that's crazy talk!

I would like a hot key for switching weapons and armors though. I guess I should program a macro to do that.

there is an autofollow function but it not where you would normaly think.

you have to go into the in game options window. i think its default key "u". it the same window you would use to change your resolution or window/non-window mode and so on.

now to find the auto follow you have to go into the GUI option tree i think. i can't rmember exactly but you should be able to find it easily once in there. you can also change font chat colors, activate health/sap/stam/focus bars on all friendly characters at all times as well as turn on/off names, titles, and guild names.

Just some comments and notes:

Lootking - some of your suggestions have not been mentioned on the Wishlist Part# 2 thread.... you should re-post to that thread

Jwhitman -
2) be able to lower the camera's axis of rotation (ie you can't take a screenshot of your character's face from a normal angle)
** you can drag the camera angle to any point by holding the left-mousepoint and dragging to desired POV **

3) be able to set the chatbox up to be split into sections (a la City of Heroes)
** not familiar with COH, but you can right-click tabs in chatwindow to open as separate applets **

5) be able to toggle street names in the map - at certain zoom levels the city is completely obscured
** if you move the cursor over the city, you will note that it becomes highlighted; left click will give you City Map level

7) add a "return to preset vertical angle" key
** I believe the numeric . (Del) key serves this function - see list of default shortcut keys, K

Xephyr -
** You can use line command /follow <name> if you don't have time to use the drop-down menu method

Yes, I know you can do that. However, when you zoom in, the camera zooms in to a point about 3 feet over your character's head (that's why I said lower the axis of rotation). The only way you can get a decent head screenshot is by taking one during character generation.

Yes, and each one eats up more precious viewing area. I tried increasing the resolution to 1280x960, and that really helped a lot. However, afterwards, the game kept on starting in 1024x768 and wasn't even full screen. I had to change resolution in-game back to 10x7 and then to 12x9 each time.
tobaran wrote: 5) be able to toggle street names in the map - at certain zoom levels the city is completely obscured

Yeah, that's true. And if you do that, sometimes the map gets stuck in city mode and you have to mess with it for a couple minutes to get it to work right.

Those keys allow you to swing the camera up and down, not return to a default. Eventually I quit playing in 1st person altogether because I got sick and tired of having to haul the camera angle back up from the ground after quartering, when all it would have taken is a lookspring feature.

PS I'm cancelling out of the free trial today. This game has some really nice ideas, and the world is great, but the implementation is really, really lacking in some areas (eg, I'm sick and tired of wasting skill points because the skill descriptions aren't up to snuff). World of Warcraft comes out in a couple days and, from all accounts, they have their ducks in a row when it comes to gameplay. When I get tired of WoW, if Saga of Ryzom is still around, maybe I'll look it up again and see what's been changed. Until then, I'll leave you to it.

PS And no, you can't have my stuff - I left what I had with some friends.

PPS Wow, they really don't want you to uninstall this thing, do they? No Uninstallation in the Programs list, there's nothing whatsoever about SoR in Add/Remove Programs, nothing in the SoR directory itself (nothing that uninstalls, anyways).

Id like the radar to show the differance between agressive and nonagressive mobs. Right now mobs are orange. How about agro mobs are red and nonagro mobs are orange. It would make exploring easier without being to easy.

If this is possable now please let me know how to do this.

- CTRL+space to select your nearest friend in front of you

- From what I experienced, login and char selection screen will always be in 1024x768 (in windowed mode if you have a greater res.) But once you choose your char, it will go in fullscreen mode at the chosen resolution.
