Ryzom rocks!

Post by vaynen »

Yes, indeed, when you read a lot of threads on this forum, it seems like everyone is whining about shortcomings (as if they project their own shortcomings on the game :P )

And someone said that there were only whine-posts on the forum and no people posted things like "Ryzom rocks!" .. he even used this as an argument that Ryzom wouldn't be a good game!

NONSENSE! Ryzom rocks! :D

And so, as a couterweight to all the whining threads, here is the oppurtunity for everyone to state their opnion about the positive things of Ryzom :)

Although it feels quite pointless to ask people not to go on any flaming frenzies within this thread, I still ask it :) please don't change this positive thread into a negative one, thank you :)

Even with it's shortcomings, I love this game. When I'm on my way home from work I anticipate logging in for a few hours of fun with my guild and friends.

Ryzom is fantastic. From here it can only get better.

It rocks like Cassanovas love wagon during an earthquake!

Bravo for Ryzom. Keep plugging away Nevrax. Don't let the doom merchants and naysayers get you down. This game is great. When I get home tonight I'll be putting my money where my mouth is and signing up for 6 months.

You can stick the EQs and WoWs where daylight never reaches. Ryzom is original, complex, visually stunning and so much fun.

This state is known as Apathy.
The word APATHY derives from the Atlantean.
A-PATH-Y.
A meaning A.
PATH meaning PATH.
And Y being an abbreviation of WHY.
Quite literally A PATH TO THE MEANING WHY.

The future content (read game history and future events, new areas or mobs that pop up etc, not JUST quests, missions and having the NPC's in town do something other than trip you up or lag you out. How about they randomly spout a bit of game lore if you try to chat with them.)

The skill system is nothing like ANYTHING I have ever seen before...In Ryzom, if you want to be it all you can. I have betaed or played game from ALL over the world and have yet to find a game that had a WORKING skill system like this AND crafting.

GM staff, Ok I am an NA player, and I LOVE our GM and forum staff. But I am rather certain that the Euro GM staff is at least as good. On the NA server, the time from when you hit the button to send a petition to the first tell is LESS than a full minute. Let that one soak in, LESS than one minute. First time I got THAT fast of a reply I just could not believe it. Add to that the fact that the GM staff is respectful and can actually speak the language of the server they work on, and normally act like they have SOME kind of a clue. And you end up with the best IN game Customer service team in the HISTORY of MMORPG's. (there have been a few games that there was not a GM in game presence other than to play the role of an event character)

Not sure how friendly the British crew is, but I can't imagine you all being that much different than us Americans. Our community is suffering a LITTLE with this Patch one hang over, but we are still more helpful, caring and mature than ANY other game I have ever played. I can't even begin to tell you what a serious breath of fresh air that is.

Magic is not grossly limited, nor is it grossly overpowering. Melee is not too weak or too over powered. Yes Range needs a tweeking here and there, but it is not a hopeless cause.

The Crafting system is a gem. It is MUCH more fun and rewarding than either EQ or Horizons. In EQ you would have to slaughter the mobs that dropped the materials for literally weeks on end to gather enough to MAYBE get a level or two. And the success rate in EQ is slightly more than the birth rate of albino cojoined twins. In horizons the tedium of getting to a level in crafting that is workable is about as bad as watching the grass grow. And since ALL the items look EXACTLY alike in Horizons, it is not nearly as rewarding. The ability to craft various different qualities of armor, various different weights of armor, and various different racial armors and mix and match to your hearts content basically has ENDED the attack of the killer CLONES.

I enjoy the ability to craft an item that is the SAME Q level and grade level, but more suited to a dodging player than a parrying player. Or a sword that is lighter, faster but not quite as damaging. The customization of stats on a weapon is UNHEARD of in crafting systems in NA games. Plus I think that it would be VERY possible to have an event where the materials that were quartered would make an item that looked slightly different, and had a slightly higher stats than the "run of the mill", and I don't think that they would have to code TOO much to do all that.

I DO miss the mixed nationalities of EQ, I found it very interesting to be able to play on the same server as Brits, Aussies, French, Norwegians etc. Something about the mixing of cultures and personalities just hit me well.

The graphics in Ryzom are different and fresh. The theme of Ryzom is NOT fantasy realm part four thousand. You can SEE the world growing around you. ANd I mean the PLANET, not the gaming realm only. In Fyros newbie lands I HEARD the huge branches groaning over head. It was as if the planet was crying. And the theme is not the same old warmed over Sci fi either. I REALLY like the way the blended the two without it becoming warmed over split pea soup.

Yes I have a FEW dreams about TINY changes I would like to see in game. Like I am Fyros, but I want to try on some of the Tryker looks, or maybe a Matisian pony tail. I would like to see piercings in game. It is hard to see a tribal race that does NOT pierce something on their bodies. It would not have to be extreme, something like a nostral piercing like India does. The model would only need a TINY dot of color in the right place.

But these changes are dreams for the far distant future, like a year from now.

I think that eventually travel is going to HAVE to be improved in some way. And I recall seeing something about Tryker ships, which makes the Pirate caps make a bit more sense.

YES this game rocks. I did NOT buy EQ2, and won't buy WOW either. And I have left every other game I was playing to play this game. I am NOT one of those instant gratification type of Americans. I understand that sometimes the fruit is sweeter if you have to wait for it.

How does Ryzom rock?

What can you do apart from kill mobs over and over, chat and craft?

The content isn't in yet! So how can the game rock?

So you are either lying or easily (very easily) pleased. And I'm not saying Ryzom is a bad game, but to say it rocks in it's current state is pathetic.
