Tbh i think its a good idea especially with mats,as u get to see who are the " con merchants " charging stupid prices for items so u automatically think, well i wont buy anything off him. Also as been mentioned u get to see who is reasonable priced so u will go buy off them and as for the P-Roots mats ive seen for sale lol, well there laughable as most people who harvest there will know u can find the correct spots without aggro if you try or would u sooner pay 1.5 million for a stack of mats or go get the XP AND the mats :D . I find it very informative tho GJ devs :D

Hey All,

I am not a high level crafter, though i am trying :P
And as for Forgaging, only q90 choice now, once again trying to improve.

My simple repsonse to this thread (and i have not logged on since patch) is that I love the idea of the "Named" items, though totally appreciate why it should be optional.

Also here are a few question to think about for those who have already replied and those who will reply after this:

"Under Cutting" - what is it really? and who truelly can say if it is or isnt being done? - simplying put some people love Dappers, some people dont - some people craft using self supplied mats, others request mats to be delivered and either do it for free (just XP gains) or charge a fee on top, and some people buy matts, and then craft and sell.
Each case will present the "Crafter" with different expectations of rewards, Dappers, XP, Both? and HOW MUCH???
I personally havea Guild Hall, have several Packers, I have purchased many Packers for friends/guild mates, and also purchased weapons & armour from external crafters for myself and guild mates (cause no one in my guild could craft what i require), i have given dappers to buy lots of those wonderful teleport tickers to mates..... so as you can see, dappers dont mean much to me. I forage 250K worth of mats per hour..... so its all too easy to get it.

What do I SELL? Only stuff of great quality (and my more fussy side) even Quality. - Q70, Q80, Q90 mats of CHOICE only go on public sale, everything else gets sold for dappers (no resale) - eq. q74 choice

People want a Q70 item or a Q80 item, not Q74, thus dont bother public selling it.

And of course, for those of you getting ANGRY tells, you have two options, IGNORE and or REPORT IT as "Abuse" - no one should be subject to "Angry Tells" for ANY reason.

And as for requests.... you are entitled so say "NO" and hopefully you do it in a nice way... "Sorry, I dont craft that low anymore..." or "I am really busy, but if you provide the mats, i could do it, just probably not anytime soon..."

Anyway... i'll leave it at that for now.

Happy Gamming all, and enjoy your crafting :P

Since i am use to the system of all items having th crafters named attacked to them and the seller being named from Horizons, i have no issues with the system.

There is an easy answer to those accusing you of undercutting : Tell them to live with it. Item prices for me always reflect time needed to craft the item. So if i can get resources easyly for something it will be cheap.

As for crafting requests, well just dont answer tells you get or tell them horrendous prices, or just tell them to bugger off, or ...

Its a free world you don't HAVE to fullfill each request and if you tell them in a friendly way they even might understand that you dont have the time to do it.

I don't really see any issues about the system. But it its easy to implement a choice option (which i doubt) let the devs put it in. But not if it would mean other content would have to suffer.

You can see all the info about quality/stats etc when you buy an item, and can compare the price with similar items that are on sale, so why should anonymity be an issue ? As for the undercutting, again you can see a price and compare similar items to see which one is value for your money. None of this needs to be done with the knowledge of who the crafter/seller is. I have yet to see a good reason why this should be compulsory (and myself and others have a few reasons why it shouldnt be). All im asking for is an "option" to not have the crafters name displayed, rather than have this forced upon us without any prior indication.

Ozric,

Like I said i totally appreciate the reasons you have provided for why it should be optional, and you and your friends have my vote that the Dev's implement this feature.

However I still want to know why people get so cut up about "Under cutting" - lets ignore the fact that i find it sooooo hard to find anyone who will actually craft for a "stranger" its all mates to mates, guildies to guildies.... so really unless i am missing something (i play 5-6 hours a night) there isnt a big market anyway...
But it seems to be all about Dappers... I am guilty of for those items i do publicly sell; just selecting the TICK and accepting the default price (seems to be TWICE the normal price always).

For an example... a Q50 CHOICE Amp of Healing Speed (100% choice mats) sells for me at 11K by default public sale... what would you think is fare for this?

I am actually not selling anything to get money, as i can forage for an hour and sell it all and have aproximately 250K (if things go well)
I can also Melee and Off Mage and collect mats that way, though kinda slower, normal only get about 50K in an hour.

WHAT i believe defines "Under Cutting" is if a prices is lowered BELOW the "Merchants Default" price....
Why dont i start selling my q50 choice heavy armour sets for 1 dapper each?
Now that is reason for an uproar.

Think of real life, if you go shopping for something, usually if its something expensive like a new T.V, you shop around.
You can find Brand X, Model y at 5 different shops ranging from Price 100n to Price 300n - So who is undercutting who?

In real life, undercutting is when you sell something for a loss simply to take away sales from your competitors so they to make a loss, and if you are the "leader" in the market, you can make this lose to the point of sending them out of buisness, yet you remain in business eating into your previously earned cash surpluss.

This brings me back to Ryzom - I dont need Dappers, i Forage all my own Matts, and somethings kill for them (only know a few mobs that drop Choice or Excellent mats, so dont using these mats for public sale) - so my 11K Q50 Choice Amp will probably cause an uproar.... as I previously purchased a q40 fine amp for 40K (did I get ripped off or what) this demonstrates the default value is clearly under what people are trying to sell things for.

ANYWAY....

This is what i think to be the REAL reason people are upset... they would charge something really high for this amp, say 100K and if people knew they could get it for 11K why would they spend the extra 89K ??

Knowledge is power, and salespeople rely on the ignorance of their potential customers....

Deal with it :)

IF it trully costs you so much to make something, yet doesnt cost others that, you are clearly not being that effiencient... modify your ways to craft the items.... could be as simple as recruite a high level forager and a high level melee / off mage to gathers mats..... :)

Have to say I agree with helbreat's first sentence. Unnecessary flame Sprite.
For some people on this forum, English isn't their first language so making comments about people's use of english/puntuation is both uncalled for and unfair.

Having said that Helbreat's second comment is also VERY uncalled for. All you do with comments like that is make yourself as bad as the person flaming you mate.

Be nice people please. :)

Well I am Neun!

I am a Harvester.
I am a Crafter.

Its what I want to do.

My fight is poor and my heal is just enough to rescue people.

I love the fact that my name is on my items! I am proud of what I produce.

If I got a 'nasty' tell from anyone. (So far after 10 months involved with this game ... I have received a grand total of 1 (ONE) nasty tell and that was a misunderstanding about XP!), I would slap em or report em :P

I get tells when I am sneaking through really heavy aggro .... I just answer them in my own time, or ask them to wait. Everyone so far has been very very friendly!

I make items for guild, friends, strangers, other guilds, basically anyone and everyone.

I sell what I would class as 'junk' to the NPC! (I class choice as Junk! :P ) I list at just over default price! (This by the way is 1/2 the price the NPC sells basic items for and my items are twice as good]).

I make the 'good stuff' for the players that I meet!

If I see a nakid harvest - and I have the mats - I will GIVE them a set of light with focus boost. Why, becuase it helps the game as a whole!

I make loads of dappers (I have to sell alot of stuff direct to merchant as my listings are always full!).

I don't try to put other crafters 'out of business' by my actions, in fact I support other crafters with mat supplies, I do it because I am working for a better Ayts.

I believe, no play should be without armour, weapons, jewels. I believe by helping others, I am in fact helping myself!

Many people have run halfway across the map to rez me. I have done the same for other (Sorry Spaas, you know I would have come to you in the roots if it was possible to run 400m in the roots in less than 1 min).

I spent all of my 1.5hrs playtime helping harvesters reach mats that they need to level their harvest.

The naming of items/sellers - is a two edged sword!

Its new content to the game, its a method of branding for items, its what the players asked for!

If I was a dev on this game and I responded to the player request for 'content' then the very day I gave it to them the player base posts 'I don't want this' - I personally would say:

'Right - thats the last time I give them anything they ask for!'

Ozric - I feel for you if you are getting nasty tells, I would suggest reporting the people that do it. Don't get it to fight with them, just copy the message and send a report. If they are very persistant - ask a GM to pay them a visit.

If Soulsnatcher appear next to me or summoned me to him for a talking to (and I was a new player). It would make me think twice :P

This community is very strong - but a few bad apples can spoil it for everyone.

*** steps out of ramble mode ***

Ozric - a toggle would be nice, but as sky says not at the expense of other new stuff.

We are a very hungry community - we are eating the everything the devs/gms throw at us.

If the devs gave me more content everyday, I would still demand more! But in a positive way, I want more cause I love the game, not because I think what we already have is lacking!

*** realises he is still rambling ***

Hivewasp type summary:

The new stuff is great. There maybe issues with it, but as its new lets give it a while to see if its really a major problem.

Price wars - added content to the games the devs didn't even think of!

Branding - how cool is that.

More content - not because its lacking, but because we are greedy!

Lets not change stuff 1 day after release!
