sprite wrote:So no one cares if they die then? Doesn't that make it a bit pointless making them die at all; why not just stun them for an amount of time related to their distance from the nearset spawnpoint? Plus I would imagine it makes people rather blasé about everything.
For one you do care if you die. Running back can be a pain. There might be aggro mobs next to your body not allowing you to get it. Pvp players could stand there over your corpse waiting for you to grab your body. So dieing can be a pain. It won't ruin your night though. Spending awhile working of 400k dp after trying to help your harvester survive in roots might.

If you respawn at the alter you take a penalty of 100% dmg to your armor and 5min effect of sickness. Sickness makes your attacks or spells 75% weaker.

Also it doesn't work like in RYZOM put your armor in inventory so it doesn't wear out in wow it will wear out even in your invenotry even if you can't wear it. Like armor you find off mobs.
sprite wrote: No, when you fear someone (using an appropriately leveled spell ofc), they run away (often out of their aggro range so they don't even come back to attack you); when you stun someone (again using the right lvl of spell) they get stunned and you proceed to slap/nuke them as hard as you can. I would know as I use these spells all the time, and they have always had the correct effects for as long as the game has been retail (except stun used to be pointless because the stunned mob could still dodge, and would do so all the time, but this was fixed by Patch1)
So far when pvping against guild mates equal level it hasn't made them run away just sit there. I asked them if its working and they said I am stunned.

Well maybe my spell needed to be higher then them. So I will try it next time someone logs on lower then me.
sprite wrote: Sounds a bit like this "no dp" thing to me... no risk envolved = unrealistic (accepting that mmorpgs are never that realistic anyway, but you should at least try...) and boring. Besides, if you get xp for exploring, isn't this just handing you free xp? I'm assuming that this "exploring" is simply defined as the area of the map you have been to, so I might be wrong if they made the roads and the areas around them not count.
DP doesn't make a game great period. Why do you want things realistic? Isn't life already realistic enough for you. Maybe you don't have enough realisum in your life but I know I do and thats enough for me.

Maybe if they actually had characters die that would make a game realistic but they don't so by definition. NO MMO is realistic.

Exploring is searching for hidden places and new lands once you explore the new land you make a map of the area on your world map.
XP isn't enough to make you want to explore the whole world maybe 140xp for finding a hidden passage way or a new territory.

There is so much more stuff I can't and won't try to define its too much. Little things about death and stuff that you won't know unless your playing.

If you wish to know more truely play it.

*Wonders to self what will the people who just sign up for betas do when WoW beta ends*

whats the next big game that is soo much better than EQ2/WOW/Ryzom.

What will they do?

*Wonders if people think WOW/EQ2 is so much better, has huge populations and loads to do in game, why do they keep coming back here to tell us?*

*Wonders what they will do after the first big patch occurs and there world is different to the one they new before*

I guess, if I am honest, I don't care!

But they seem to want to destroy it? thats what puzzles me.

If I eat something I don't like, I tend to say 'I don't like that', then I don't eat it again. If asked I would say I don't like it, but I wouldn't feel obligated to stop everyone in the street and say 'I don't like pickled eggs!'

I wouldn't camp outside the pickled egg factory telling everyone there. 'I don't like pickled eggs!'

I wouldn't fell that I needed to enter a pickled egg competition so I could stand at the side and say 'I don't like pickled eggs!'

I just wonder why they feel the need to hang around?

If people wanted to know more, they would be playing WoW and according to people like you, they would see how *amazingly better than Ryzom* it is and never come back, therefore not be reading this thread. If they didn't want to know more, they would be here and wouldn't care what you posted.
