I've only been playing a couple days so please bare with me.
Currently I am L28 in Off Magic but about 6 in Craft.
I want to know about Magic Focus and what it can do to help my magic.
What is it? How do I make it? How do I use it? And what advantages does it have?
Basically I am trying to find out everything I can about it as its something I know nothing about.
I appreciate any help you can give.

Magic Focus
Re: Magic Focus
Magic Focus are mats such as eyes or amber etc that can be used in the crafting of magic amplifiers to add different boosts in the different areas. Each amp made requires 8 shaft, 2 grip and 10 magic focus mats so they are pretty important for anyone making amps

Re: Magic Focus
Magic Focus is the name of one part of a Magic Amp. (Gloves used my magic users to increase the power of their spells)sirloin wrote:I've only been playing a couple days so please bare with me.

The material used as the magic focus is Amber. Different named/qualities of amber have different properties.
An amp can boost each spell type for 0%-100% (speed and power)!
Ask a Crafter in game to make you one.
The quality level you can use is dependant on your intellegence.
The quality level of the amp will boost spells only upto its level.
at level 28 off ... you are looking for an off magic amp of around ql30-40.
You may be able to use a ql50 if you have trained you intellegence to maximum for you level.
Re: Magic Focus
general guide for what amps you can use is your intelegence+10 = ql of the best amp u can use

Re: Magic Focus
Gotcha, my intelligence is 45 so I should be able use a q50 Amp then.kibsword wrote:general guide for what amps you can use is your intelegence+10 = ql of the best amp u can use
If I wanted to make my own Amp, what level should I up my Craft to to be able to make Amps at Q50?
From my experience of crafting, I think I am doing something drastically wrong as I find it very hard to level in it. Is it best to buy stacks of wondermats and craft for britain to level up? Or is there another way?

Heya Sirloin
There is only one way to level up your crafting - get hold of plenty of mats (sorry if it sounds obvious!). Whether you do this from looting mobs, harvesting or buy from the vendor is up to you, although the latter is expensive.
I tend to do a hunting session to collect mats, see what I have most of and work out the potential number of items I could make with them (e.g. if I got 18 shaft I could make 3 pikes), and harvest any extra mats I need to craft them all. I seem to loot a lot of point and shaft items so I usually just need to dig for some grip to make pikes. Similarly with armor I get armor shell, stuffing and clip off mobs and dig for the lining.
As for the actual crafting, I usually try to make small numbers of the bigger items (helms and pikes) rather than large numbers of small ones (gloves and daggers). I think mat for mat the xp gain and sale price is the same, but fewer items feels like less work.
One important thing - craft the items to a quality lower than the lowest Q mat you're using. If you try using a Q12 mat in a Q20 plan you will get less xp than if you used it in a Q10 plan - the Q10 will count as a success, the Q20 will count as degraded.

And Y being an abbreviation of WHY.
Quite literally A PATH TO THE MEANING WHY.
