Let's make some? I don't mean make some up, I mean take what we know and discuss it. I also don't mean on the forums, that defeats the purpose of "in game lore".
For instance, a thread I started a while ago concerning the ruins found in the Prime Roots, and some screenshots were shown in that thread. If we could meet in game with a number of people actually interested in the story, and share our experiences with "strange artifacts" - then I think it would go a great distance in two things. One, it would provide those non-forum goers a bit of access to the present story, and two it would give people with "interesting discoveries" an in game venue for distributing such knowledge.
And to make it just a tad more "fun", a few new refugees could always share their tales of woe when the Yubos killed them - and how they found vengeance on the mainland.
Another thing, this would be a great opportunity for those unaware of the history of Atys, to be made aware. A little story here, perhaps about the Matis Prince - and maybe a glimpse into the world of the Company of Loria as well.
It is my opinion that a great deal of people that choose Ryzom do so because of the world it is set in, and the possibilities of the future story. Why wait? Let's MAKE a story, and begin investigating the past NOW.
Anyway, I'd love to do this sometime - maybe even weekly for the grand explorers. I have a great deal of knowledge of the lore, I can share this (unobjectively ).
Or, we could have a representative of each race give a brief history of their race through their eyes. If it's a regular thing, and brief enough, we can have a different "perspective" each week.
If nobody likes or is willing to do this, I understand. It's a way to forget about the "real life" issues of patch this nerf that bugged mechanics and laggy gameplay - and focus on the reason a lot of us came here.
The world.
And, possibly a good chance to meet guilds that have seen and done what young refugees only imagine!
Oh yeah, gotta have it in the Lakelands. *nod*

Since there isn't any "in game" lore yet...
Re: Since there isn't any "in game" lore yet...
I'm interested in something like this, but it's too early yet. After the second patch goes in and the story really starts, then there will be much to talk about.
Re: Since there isn't any "in game" lore yet...
IN game lore so far is limited...BUT it IS in game. Roll up a newbie, and do the welcomer mission...READ everyword. Yep...that TINY bit IS lore. If you roll up one on Karavan fame and one on Kami fame you will see the slanting there too.
I haven't found anything of any SERIOUS meat yet...but...I haven't made it past Dyron, oasis, Pyr, imp dunes yet either.

Well, presently there are 4 races each with a distinct view on the last several generations. I think it would not be too early if we focused on slowly introducing the past and through to present. Even the journey to Pyr led by Zzei, and the summit itself would make for good fireside stories. At least, I think so.
Lyrah: There are ancient monuments all over Trykerland, as well as ruins of ancient camps that have every appearance of each race. That, added to the history provided on the website would make for wonderful discussions.

This is my ongoing story, has been sparse lately, but I'm also putting in much of the lore I find out about, as well as just personal embellishments and touches.
I think it's a good idea, put it on the RP forums though.

I remember. I believe that is where I commented about the relative lack or RP in SoR as well. Since that time I have created an SoR Roleplayers Association forum, it still has under 30 total posts of which well over half are mine. I also started a new RP Guild called Birthright. The membership as swelled to a total of 2, including myself.
I continue to be very concerned that the RP community here will ever take off. I am concerned that there may not be a critical mass present, and indeed, there may never be, and I am even more concerned with the reticence of most RPers I have talked to, it seems there is a perceived need to wait for more content.
To be honest, the near complete lack of RP in this game has left me quite bored! Why, even Lineage 2 had more RP than I have found here. So, concequently, I find myself drawn more and more in other directions. I have found a MUSH type game that is VERY strong in RP, and I have recently been spending considerably more time there than I have in SoR. Will that situation change when SoR finally gets more content? Possibly, I hope so. But quite frankly, I'm no longer holding my breath.
