a guild power trip by Mako
I was told to post here. So here I am. There are a good many of us non guild peeps who have no desire to join a guild, so why can not we have a say in what is happening in the lands as well or must we be forced to join a guild. If that is the case then I and a good many more who don't wish to be a part of the guilds or clans. Will be forced to withdraw our selves from the Ryzom world altogether. I really don't want that and nor do most of my friends who are not yet in guilds as well. If I join a guild with Mako it will be to enrich the guild I will be joining and to enrich my self with learning how to be a better player. Mako is just one my persona's, I have two. I let my sons play one each. The other I let a friend use when he is over my house. When I first spoke up many of you told me this was a guild matter I had no say at all. I firmly believe we all should have some say in what transpires. As to some council why can't two guild reps from each race along with non guild rep speak forthere race in a council of the people. I see no problem with that unless the guild powers are afraid to share the voice. If that is so, whom do we elect as fuhuer not sure on my spelling here. I myself would be happy to follow the orders of a leader who was appointed or elected to my race. I fully expect to be pounced on, or berated for my ideas. Oh and before any of you wonder my other character is in a guild so please don't assume I have a grudge. As for the military asspects I spent 10 years in the USN on the teams, I can quite well follow orders when given. I put personality into each character I play. Mako is quite different from my main one. He has a loyality to his race(Fryos) and to his Mate Quest. So I ask think about the council idea it is not a bad one. Unless you wish the game to be run by the guilds or clans as some leaders have called them selves. Then speak up.

Re: a guild power trip by Mako
I understand what you are saying here Freeride, but I also think that it's a little unfair to berate those guilds who have put so much effort into organising guild events that run alongside those organised by the GMs and guides. All they are doing is enriching their gameplay experience. Each guild event thread I read here in the Arispotle/events section welcomes any and all players to join them on their adventures. I don't think any of them have excluded other players or guilds from taking part. It would be unreasonable to expect a 'say' in the player-run events. They have come up with the original ideas and put in all the work to arrange them.
Elsewhere in this forum (it could also be in the Arispotle section) a thread has been started to allow players the chance to list their own event ideas. Here you could get ideas for your own events or simply add thoughts of your own.
If you would like to arrange an event yourself you could start a thread in here, then tell as many players as you can in region chat to give them plenty of notice. I think you'd be surprised how many players would love to join your event.
With regards to an elected council, I'm really undecided on whether that would be a good idea, so I won't address that here
I wish you so much luck. It's always lovely to see how keen this community is to put the effort into enhancing their own game-play experience.
Take care

Re: a guild power trip by Mako
Ummm,
what are you refering too? As of now there is absolutely no guild content in. And I don't see which content that is aimed for guild could be made available for single players.
Until now this game is too much of a single player game really. There are no common goals to achive. Besides of helping each other lvling up, which can be done inside or outside a guild the same.
Just to get that right, you want a representative of the non guilded people to take part in some council that does not exist. But those players are not in a guild because they want to decide for themselfs. So who would be able to speak up for them? How would anyone be able to voice the opinion of many if he isnt told. All this would require an organization that is similar to a guild. So in the end you gain nothing.

Re: a guild power trip by Mako
Well Mako,
I think you can play the game very well without a guild. When the quests become active it can even be more fun. Knowing some guilds or guildleaders wont hurt, especially if you need something special or want to hunt.
And if there is something like a guild-leader-meeting, it could help you if
you know who they are so you can tell them important points of the
unguilded people.
Sxar
p.s. One small tip. Could you use some extra 'enters' next time in the text? It is very hard to read now, because it is one block of text.

Re: a guild power trip by Mako
The closest thing to this "council" you speak of is the Grand Alliance (see link in my signature) and afaik we have no overall leader/führer; its a free alliance of guilds that agree to help each other out. This is just in Fyros and I don't know about any of the other races, but I haven't seen anything on the forums.
I guess I don't really understand what you mean, but let me have a go at clearing it up for myself;
You think that the people who are not in a guild have no say in anything that goes on (ie events/hunts/whatever) so you propose creating a council of sorts where each race has 2 representatives from the guilds, and everyone not in a guild elects another representative. Then somehow we all elect a "führer" as you put it (btw a führer is defined as a leader who excercises the powers of a tyrant, so maybe that was a bad choice of words) who presides over this council.
Am I right so far? If so, look at the Guild List and see how many guilds there are. There are more than that who simply haven't put their names forward. Do you really expect all of those guilds from each race to send two people? If you try sending one from each guild then Matis will have an advantage as they have more guilds.
Furthermore, if you are "happy to follow the orders of a leader who was appointed or elected to [your] race" then why not form a guild out of all the people who don't want to be in a guild and elect a leader amongst yourselves? Because this council idea would basically make everyone a part of what would be even less of a democracy than a guild could ever be, due to the simple fact that that few people could never speak for all the people they "represent".
All of this post is based on the premise that the current guild leaders are despots who don't listen to their guildies and that the guilds run everything that goes on. This is neither fact nor my opinion but its the only way I could form some kind of response to your post; I'm wonderfully happy in my clan (yes, the one and only guild that has dubbed itself a clan, and thats because it was originally formed in another mmorpg. Not that I see any problem in calling ourselves a clan).

I think u have a wrong impression of the guilds, this is not community of people with one or two ruling this others, Guild is a way to make new friends more easily.
you can find friend out there without joining any guild i'm sure, it just make it easier.
A guild is an opportunity to meet new people, get help and info on some skills and that kind of things.
And if you are not happy with the way the guild is running, u can always change and meet more ppl by maybe... joining a new one, or forming yours with some friends.
Guild is is quick and fast way to make friends, find teammates and fight and level more...

Re: a guild power trip by Mako
There's no limitation on the amount of members in a guild... you could make a guild of one person only... yourself. All you need is 100k, a guild name, and to pick an emblem. You'll be considered in a guild, the game will treat you as such, you won't be hassled all the time by guild recruiters, and if you change your mind about guidls you can always disband it and join one, or invite people.
